I’m getting a 3 week old dwarf bunny soon and I wanted to know what type of diet it should have…

Should I even start to give it veggies from now?

How much pellets and veggies should I give it?

Diet, Mother’s milk, that is far too young to wean the rabbit, it should not be weaned until it’s at least six and preferably 8 weeks old.

Is there a special reason it’s being weaned so young?

Yes, that is far too young. Are you sure it’s three weeks old?

Do you mean that it’s three weeks now but will be older when you get it perhaps?

Omigosh I sure hope you don’t have a three week old baby bunny on your hands without its mother close by! :/ not to mention it’s illegal in most states to sell a rabbit under 8 weeks (6weeks in some states) so the person you are getting the rabbit from is someone I wouldn’t want to support anyways. They don’t sound very responsible.

I second (third, fourth?) that you should not get your bunny when it is three weeks. It needs it’s mothers milk to grow up healthy.

Hi Silver… It’s best to look at what they have been eating and prepare a transition plan… I’m estimating the bun will be about 7 weeks when you take him/her ?
I have babies as I am in Rescue, as Mummy bunny has greens unlimited the babies tend to get into it too as they start to eat whole food at 4 weeks and upwards… If your baby is coming from a similar situation then, yes, it is OK to start greens but stick with the ones they are accustomed too. If its from a breeder chances are all Mum and the bubs have ever seen is pellets so you will want to introduce a good quality hay and transition the pellets to something acceptable to their needs.

Oh and the greens should wait until atleast 12 weeks if they have not had veg before..Then you can introduce small quantities one or two at a time.
