        Hi everyone,

I am hoping that you will be able to put my mind at rest. Gus has his neuter tomorrow but I am concerned that his poop has been half the size since yesterday.

He is still very hungry for his pellets and seems to be enjoying his hay. He may be eating slightly less hay (still lots though) because his hormones have gone crazy in the last few days and all he seems to be interested in is humping, spraying and honking. If i try to stop him from doing any of these things I get grunted at or stamped at. I know that this is hormones so am not worried about this behaviour.

He has been out in the garden for the first time 3 days ago, and has had half an hour out there with me every day since. He has been running about binkying and eating dandelions. (Don’t worry, he is a house rabbit and usually gets his exercise indoors). Due to the amount of greens he has been eating outside, I have limited his other veg.

Today I have limited his pellets and greens to try and ensure he eats more hay but the poops are still tiny. He has not been drinking any less water.

I am worried that this will cause problems at his neuter and I am already nervous enough about that as it is!

Of course I will tell the vet about this tomorrow, but I was just wondering if anyone can give me any advice to put my mind at rest or increase the poop size? He is going through a light shed at the moment so I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Basically, is it dangerous for my bunny to be neutered tomorrow?

        Thanks

I would absolutely tell the vet. As long he is eating I wouldn’t think it is an emergency or anything. You can give them a call before the neuter AND tell them right before. Just make sure he is eating well.

And if they didn’t tell you to, bring food with him so they can offer, him some nibbles when he wakes up. Good luck!

Thank you for your well wishes. The vet wanted to go ahead with the neuter after an examination. He came round fine and is eating well again. His poops are still small but at least he is still doing them. He has a hot water bottle in his cage and is enjoying a nice nose rub from me.

There has been a bit of an issue with the other bunny, but I will start a new thread for that. Thanks for your replies!
