It has been getting warmer where I am, and I heard that rabbits become much more active at this time. I wanted to give her a health inspect and noticed something about her her genitals, it appears to be swollen and dark red, and when I did a health check several times during winter, I never saw this. My Holland lop seems to be seeking some attention some more too. Though I should do health check on her.

Does this warmer temperature and the color of her genitals have anything to do with her seeking my attention almost non-stop? I’m pretty sure shes trying to tell me something considering shes nose nudging me and following me everywhere.

Unfortunately not yet, a rabbit savy vet is a long drive from here, I can make it if needed, but I currently cant take any risks.

I’m not too sure if that’s the reason for her behavior though.

if her genitals are still swollen, that can be a problem. I’ve never heard of that before. Is there a vet that has had any experience at all with rabbits in your area? or, better yet, a House Rabbit Society shelter? (go to the left hand side of the page at http://www.rabbit.org) her behavior may just be on account of hormones, or she may be uncomfortable with something with her genitals.

If someone with more experience has a suggestion…

I just looked up some more info on this, when rabbits genitals look like that, it means they want to breed…

I’m shocked, there aren’t any male rabbits around and shes still using this behavior. She also has started biting the xpen, she will do it until I let her out, just to seek my attention. But I need to spend time bonding with my lop eared girl too. Could she possibly be in heat?

Rabbits don’t go into heat, they are induced ovulators.

If they are still inflamed, you may want to get her checked

How certain are you of the gender of your holland lop?

Even if both female, if they’ve socialised and there was humping behaviours, that could be enough to set off a false pregnancy.
