Long time reader, first time poster here

I have two buns – Jay and Mini. Mini was the first and we got Jay just after new year to bond with her. They are now happily bonded and have been living together for a week and a half. In that time we’ve seen some loss of litter habits with peeing and pooping outside the litter trays, but only inside their hutch & pen. I was putting it down to them working out their relationship and a bit of territoriality, and thought we were making progress until last night when I noticed that Mini had a soaking wet bottom – tail, backs of legs and right up to her tummy.

So, I’m now realising that Jay is actually back to his usual good habits and Mini is leaving little puddles in the hutch and pen. Nowhere else though. I wondered if it was still behavioural and she’d just peed and sat in it, so tried covering more of the floor with fleeces to wick away the liquid when there’s an accident and I dried off her fur the best I could just with a towel.

This morning though she was wet again. And I watched her while they were eating breakfast this morning and she did a little pee on the fleece in the pen without flinching or moving an inch.

We have an appointment at the vets tonight because this immediately made me think it’s medical rather than behavioural…so we’ll see what the vet says. She seems fine otherwise and is eating, drinking, pooping as normal.

Anyone any other theories or suggestions? Is it odd that she isn’t having accidents anywhere other than in their enclosure? They have free rein of our living space most of the day.

She had a bout of gut stasis just after we got Jay, which we put down to stress about the new boy, so I tend to be a bit anxious about her…

I guess what I would say is to see if the vet thinks first if it is medical rather than behavioral.
