Our two male holland lops have been bonded for around 8 months with no issues. They bonded quickly in around 3 weeks and have not humped each other since. However, over the past two weeks they have been very humpy, along with a lot of binkying and cuddling. We’re a bit confused as nothing has changed in the past 4 months or so, any ideas?!

        Thanks in advance

Reasserting dominance, it’s normal. Could be a new scent, a new toy, they had a slight disagreement over litter box use, one refused grooming of the other, etc. Consider it the way bunnies make up after an argument.

Ah thanks stickerbunny, they often refuse to do grooming so I’m wondering if that’s it.

Buns can get crazy with seasonal changes too, so that might be something. Or if they’re shedding, that can throw them off.

Humping isn’t a bad thing as long as it doesn’t escalate into a full fight. It sounds like they’re still happy, so just keep an eye on them!

My girls have been bonded as long as I’ve had them (I got lucky, they loved each other from the get go) and my dwarf still shows off her dominance by humping my other bunny and also marking her territory and chinning lots of furniture and even me! Sometimes I’ll see a chunk of fur in the cage because when Bella humps, she grabs onto a piece of Pippins fur with her teeth. It’s never been anything but playing for them, nothing violent thankfully. It’s actually really funny to watch.
