Hello,     My name is Ryan and I have had several Flemish Giants for the past few years. Though we have done some breeding of non show animals, my children are looking into showing rabbits with our local 4-h chapter. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with the Flemish Standard of Perfection. I not quite sure i want to buy the full book from the ARBA so if anyone could point me in the right direction that would be super!!

Unfortunately, binkybunny is an anti-breeding, somewhat anti-showing, pro-rescue pro-adoption house rabbit forum, so I doubt many of us will know much about breeding standards.
I encourage you to reconsider showing rabbits as it is very stressful on them. Breeding is also discouraged, seeing the number of rabbits in shelters.
You do mention that you have several flemmies, I am sure we all would love to hear about them and see pics!

I wanted to make sure to clarify — We are not an anti-show or anti-breeding site, (as some people have gotten their bunnies from reputable breeders and we don’t want members, who bought their bunny to feel bad). We prefer to stay out of the bickering division of Rescue vs Breeding. (which is another reason we don’t allow breeding discussions here) We stay focused on the individual bunny as a pet only. While we do strongly encourage and promote adoption, it’s important to note that regardless of where someone gets their bunny, our goal here is to help them stick with the commitment they made or are about to make, and find solutions to many of the challenges that may come with having a rabbit companion. This includes encouraging spay and neutering which would not work with breeding or showing. Due to our focus most of us do not have the experience that would be able to guide you.

Some of the 4-H groups around here actually help in rescue work now. They help out from cleaning cages, help in fundraising events and education I know this is somewhat a new concept for that group, but it seems to be gaining momentum and it’s a great way to help animals looking for a second chance.

Thanks LEL for respectfully replying to this member as I know it can be a hot topic here at times. I just wanted to clarify our main mission here.

Most people here are not going to know much about breed standards, as the others have said. I did a google search and this popped up, don’t know if it will help.
