BinkyBunny is a good site – also moving this to Q&A – it really doesn’t belong in Behavior.

As far as re-bunny-proofing and what you need to buy, it depends what you’re looking to block and protect. Most things for bunny-proofing can be bought in hardware or big box stores (Walmart/Target/Kmart, etc….) Even in small towns, most people have access to at least one of those….

My bun has a wood shelf that doubles as a hidey house. My husband built it. It’s definitely more sturdier than cardboard. If you’d like to see a pic, you can do a habitat forum search for “sideways E”. (That’s not a typo…. That’s what it’s called: sideways E :o)

You only want to clip the tips of the nails, but often, like once a month.

For bunny proofing – Home Depot or Loews if you have those stores or any hardware store really.

If you go for things like metal grates / cubes and plastic cord covers, you won’t have to worry about it being safe. Those are definitely going to be okay for her to be around. c:

Check out MidlandHardware.com. You may be able to find stuff there that can be shipped to you.

For a sturdy hidey-house, as others have already suggested, untreated wood is a great material to use. You just want to stay away from particle board (treated with toxic chemicals), and anything else that’s been treated, finished, glossed, etc.

Also, about your nail-clipping question – yes, it’s okay just to do the tips. That’s all you really should be doing, anyway. You can cut down a little ways before you see the “quick” (that’s the darker and/or pink area in your bunny’s nails), but the tips are just fine. You want the nails to be roughly the same length as the fur on the paws — or, if you have a rex, then just a little longer than the paw pads.
