So I finally got Lily a pen

It’s still kind of messy, but I think it’s a big improvement since used to just be stuck in the cage.  However, I’m not sure what to do about the corners.

I’m pretty sure she already squeezed out once, so I wired them more tightly and barricaded them with stuff, but I was wondering if there was a better option.  Another thing I was wondering about was a good safe material to cover the mat with.  It’s sort of rubbery and I feel like she would be more comfortable on some sort of fabric.

Sorry Diamond, I have no idea about bunny housing (I think you may know that Henry is free range?), but just thought I’d catch you on your forum to say I’m not happy how you stole all the bunny’s in one swoop by stealing the whole barn with your fancy chopper! ha ha haha…..
Anyhow, getting back to Lily’s new house – from all that I’ve seen, yours is right up there! Good on you! And I’m sure someone will have a great idea as to how to deal with those dam corner’s – cheeky Lily! LOL! My suggestion (and please don’t laugh????) Peg’s! I use peg’s for everything! re-sealing bags, holding things in place, etc. (Ok, you can laugh now…..). Like I said, other BBer’s will have better idea’s. Cheers Diamond.

What I did was fold the flaps inward, so that only the opening to the cage had access to the pen, that way I eliminated the corner gaps. Does that make sense? I used zip ties to fasten the flaps to the front of the cage, not the sides of the cage.

AmndHenry- Ha! Thanks, that was such a fun thread.

Kbana- also thanks. I’m pretty sure I know what you’re talking about, but could you post a picture if its not too inconvenient?

Can you take the caster wheels off the cage base? That might make the gap smaller.

Or you could have the pen go all the way around the back of the cage against the wall. You’ll have 2 less panels to use in the open area though.

Sorry it took me so long. This is an older set up, I now have just NIC grids, but since you used a playpen, this may help.  When I was using a pen I kept the cage on the outside and used the opening of the pen. I lined it up with the opening of the cage and zip tied it. Hopefully you can tell from the pic.

Okay, it’s good to see it. That makes a lot of sense, and I definitely think I’ll try it. Thanks!

Oh good! Post more pics when you’re done. We can’t wait to see it.
