I adopted Humphrey, a one year old Mini Rex, last week. So far, he’s doing quite well. The owner claimed he was potty trained, but sometimes I start to wonder if he really is. When I let him out, he sometimes, not too often, hops around and leaves little pee droppings on the floor. I assume he’s just marking his territory? Humphrey does use his litter box for peeing and pooing; the evidence is clearly there. He does leave poo all over his cage, though. Is that typical for a potty trained rabbit?

The next thing I am concerned about is his nipping. He’s a very affectionate rabbit, so I know he’s not nipping out of defense. He goes in circles around me, honking/oinking softly. He then begins to sniff me and then nips. How do I discourage him from doing this gesture?

This behavior sounds very typical of a sexually mature rabbit. I am guessing he isn’t neutered?
