Awright. So I lately have been experiencing bun-struction at it’s worst. First it was our camera cord.

Then it was the hutch (y’know, the cabinet-type cupboard where you store dishes. Not a rabbit hutch.) that was a very important family heirloom.

Finally it was my husband’s brand new phone. It’s like they know the things are new and expensive. My husband was already angry about the glass doors being scratched(Russell! That’s you I’m talking about!).

I’ve had to deal with all sorts of bun-struction. Baseboards, wood tables, basically anything at bunny’s level. Those don’t matter to me as much as others do. That brings me to my question. What is the most expensive thing your bunny has chewed, destroyed..etc.? It doesn’t have to be expensive either. Just something that was important to you. ( Like a document or family heirloom type thing. Anything!)

Hmm, I don’t think mine have ever chewed something irreplaceable. I think the worst Wooly ever did was take a chunk out of my tote bag. Leopold chewed slightly on the leg of the sofa table. As soon as I noticed, it was removed for their room though. It’s funny because there isn’t any wood furniture in their room at all now. The desk is metal and then there are metal filing cabinets. The computer chair has a plastic base. Oh and the plant stand is metal. And that’s it, everything else is theirs.

This isn’t to say that Leopold hasn’t done a number on the walls in that room. For some reason, drywall is very tasty. I find a way to block off where he is chewing and he finds a new spot. =\

Lily bit through my cell phone/tablet charger. I also found my alarm clock cord partially chewed through, so I’m thinking she started on it and got zapped.

She had never shown interest in cords before, so I thought I could trust her. Clearly, I was wrong.

To try and keep my post short it maybe easier not to list ‘everything’ I care about! Let’s just say anything I don’t really care about Henry hasn’t touched, but everything I DO care about – well, he has left his mark! Dam bunny! (I just looked around the room as I write this and my lip started to quiver and my eyes well up – I better go before I start crying!).
Trying to look on the bright side???? Now my good furniture matches my crappy furniture! HUH? So at least ALL my household goods blend now – ok, now I am wiping away a tear….. Dam BUNNY!

Most expensive… hm. Two rooms worth of carpet, requiring a complete recarpet. Yeah, that one is probably the most expensive.

So far they’ve chewed on my aquarium stand, brand new tv stand, and my new desk, new cabinet… Really anything new they like to mark with their teeth. But it doesn’t bother me too bad anymore. I’ve learned to just shrug it off. It’s just furniture. *shrugs* I guess I’m not that materialistic. Now my husband… I stress when they chew because I’m concerned my husband will pout. But it’s easy to knock some sense into him lol reminding him all this furniture will be trashed or donated when we move across the country again in a few years lol my bunnies are too cute to be mad at for too long :p

They’ve also chewed my husbands laptop cord but he was able to re wire and duct tape it back together lol and mine has a bunch of bunny marks up and down the cord. I’ve always been able to stop them in the knick of time! :p ohhh everything I own has bunny marks :p

In the last three years of me owning house rabbits, my rabbits have chewed through….. About 10 pairs of headphones/earbuds (give or take a few, not all of them were mine, I’ve started buying cheap headphones because of them and keeping my expensive pair up in my room or using my wireless headphones when I’m downstairs with them.) 3 computer chargers, 3 android phone chargers, 1 iphone charger, 3 ipod chargers, a couple tshirts (not sure of how many have holes in them), 1 lamp, 1 wii sensor wire, multiple different walls, a plastic xpen, my sister’s boots, and *Drumroll* my favorite blanket. All the cloth items and a few of the headphones were from my previous rabbit Simba, but my bonded pair favor wires. Thankfully none of the wires were ever plugged in, and everyone in my house have since learned to not let their wires hang down where the bunnies can get to them.

The first days of having Lucky, he practically destroyed my boyfriends laptop cord. And phone charger lol.

Oh, and I got this super cute shabby chic painted cabinet/shelf that is in my dining room, he chewed the bottom I wish I knew what color the paint was so I could fix it.

Not that I’m laughing calipa_st (paint colour?), but any new furniture I buy now is either black or white. For bunny repairs I use a black permanent marker and for white….. the good ol liquid paper! Lol! I remember liquid paper being the ants pants when I was in high school – if only my teachers knew what I used it for now….. ha ha hah!

Edit/Add – sorry, I was laughing at myself – buying black or white furniture and ‘my’ repair remedy. Talk about setting up house around your bunny.

For those with wood furniture with bunny marks, they sell wax sticks for wood repairs. It looks pretty good and is easy to do.

Oh and calipa, you can probably take a sample of the paint in to a paint store and they can match it as best they can. Those people are pretty good with color matching just from seeing finished products!

I’m in the same boat, Stickers. Moose has destroyed the carpet in his pen area, and where he used to be in the living room. There goes the security deposit…

The worst thing Luna chewed and broke was a MacBook charger, which are like £60 to replace.
The worst part is….. It wasn’t mine! It was my flatmates! :/

Well, asides from running away with and nibbling on my research papers… Chester got behind my tv unit several times without me noticing (it was such a small gap!) and as chewed trough my AV cables and my Wii cables. And he chewed on the drywall, but only a little bit. He hasn’t chewed the furniture, thankfully!

yeah, I could probably match somewhat…
it’s this lady who sells things she handpaints on craigslist, it’s hard to describe the way it looks but it has a very distressed look. I might email and ask her how she made the paint look like that!

Ellis hadn’t destroyed anything we care about – we’ve been pretty quick to catch him when he’s started on stuff. Two of his favorites are the wooden platform that holds up the marble for our living room (coffee) table, and the toy chest my great-grandfather built for me 50+ years ago. When we catch him starting on something, we “redirect” his chewing needs to a timothy cube. Hard enough to satisfy the need to chew and tastier than old furniture, I guess.

Cutest: I have two tiny teeth marks on the toe of one of a pair of brand new shoes. He loves *my* shoes for some reason, and marked these almost as soon as I brought them in the door.

Most satisfying (for me): A printed email from my former boss, who was trying to change the terms of the project I was working on. He was wrong, I was right, Eliis enjoyed the paper.

LOL, AndHenry! But that is actually a pretty good idea.
Rabbits should run construction sites! Or even better – rabbits, my bunnies in particular, should create ‘shabby chic’ furniture! Now that’d be something. They would be perfect at it.
I have a chair that is now in the basement that looks like a shabby chic type chair. My husband was joking when he said I should make the rest of the chair look as battered and chewed as the legs. But I was thinking….it wouldn’t be such a bad idea. Instant shabby chic!

Good one, Diamond! It reminds me of a meme where there was a pic of this scumbag guy with the hat, and the caption read, “Bumps into you. Doesn’t apologize.” (Canadian-based meme, I’m sure. That’s why it was funny.)

I tried to make a meme. I failed. But…it was my first try….

So far, I’ve been really lucky with Bumpy. We watched him like a hawk whenever he was out at first. Not so much because I was worried of what he’d destroy (since my place is in renovation limbo) but because he was so cute we couldn’t stop watching him! We really took unnecessary risks, to be honest. Fan cord draping across, laptop power cord across the floor, light cords plugged into the wall… all fine. Until… he started hanging out under my hubby’s recliner. That is his favorite spot in the house, besides in his pen. After awhile, I decided to take a close look at hubby’s laptop cord, which runs across just under the front of the chair. Yep, teeny nibble marks on a handful of spots. One actually with copper wire slightly peeking thru. We re-arranged the cord whenever he was out, which caused the hubby to close his pen up whenever Bumpy was inside.

This caused much bickering. “Why do you keep closing the door??” “He was just sitting in there anyway.” “Yes, but now he can’t come out when he wants to!!!” “I DON’T WANT MY DAMN CORD CHEWED UP AND AM TIRED OF MOVING IT OUT OF THE WAY!” grrr.

So yes… cord cover is now in place as a deterrent and hubby doesn’t have to “move”. -rolls eyes-

Lol oh gosh. I think the question should be, ‘ what has your bunny not destroyed?’ With Lulu almost every signal cord in this house has either been tasted or just demolished. Pretty much any linen or clothing item has the much loved bunny nibble evidence. She loves brand new purses, but her all time favorite thing would be any Victorias Secret bra. There’s just something extra special about those bras that she will grab and run off with. Crazy bunn butt that’s for sure! Although if you haven’t seen a rabbit run away with a bra it is quite the funny sight

I get the angry husband thing. At first, when I first began my ‘house rabbit journey,’ my hubby was less than enthusiastic about the idea of bunnies – running loose! He’s satisfied with them being in their pens at a few times in the day, and being let out often, but I think if I just started out with free-range buns he would throw a huge fit! I’m gradually moving towards just free-range. But you know husbands! They can only handle so much. (:
He loves our bunnies like we love our kids, you can just tell. Having a couch buddy is the best – even when they steal food. Yup.

Then, also secretly decided one particular corner in the living room (Behind a sofa) was the ideal toilet space… and we all know how evil bun-pee is…
So, a rented house… Then the WiiU cables…

                                                                  Ok chew

DVD wires. mouse cord. The remote control belong to cable company  I have to keep them in plastic ziploc bags taped and fitted so Cotton Boo McChew doesn’t chew the buttons off

She’s chewed through my router’s power cable, my speaker cables, three iPod cables and a former roommates MacBook Pro charger. It’s a good thing I took an electronics (and kind of repair) class for the ChAir Force, otherwise this stuff may have gone in the garbage!

I also had an oil painting I did as a commission that she chewed the canvas off in 2 corners when she managed to escape her cage once  Thankfully it was just a painting for my cousin, I had to cut canvas off of another unused canvas to glue it on & repaint haha

I have spent so much money on my rabbits this past year I would hate to see the actual total amount. My rabbit Usagi got into our $2300 elliptical machine and ate all the wiring out of it. It did only cost $100 to rewire. hehe My husband was extremely mad however. Usagi has also destroyed the baseboards and chewed and dug up carpet in his bunny room. I am sure that wont be cheap to replace. Our other rabbit Kilala chewed on our guest bed headboard board foot board and legs. She has since stopped that. I don’t get too upset about it because I love them so much I have just learned to rabbit proof better.

Of course their teeth sink right into the baseboards so those are destroyed. I would say the most expensive thing that the rabbits have chewed is our leather ottoman. First of all, that is very hard to replace… and second, that’s really disgusting Bunny! You’re a vegetarian! lol but we have blocked it off since.

They like to destroy anything! especially the pillows and towels I stuffed behind the couch so they would stop destroying carpet behind it. So what I did with the destroyed pillow and towels was made a donut bed for them! I used the stuffing from the pillow and since towels are washable and can be put in the dryer, the bed is washable! Sorry, I’m kinda proud about how I turned something they destroyed into their favorite spot to snuggle now. )
