We’ve had our bun for almost 5 years now.  She is spayed.  I took her in to a good vet and they definitely took out a uterus, so I know for sure she is female.    She is good with her litter box and she is generally friendly.  Just recently–within this past week–she has become more affectionate.  She jumps up on the couch to cuddle with me, which she has never done.  She has always licked our hands during cuddling on the floor.  Now, she has started nipping as well.  Not hurtful, but it does get annoying.  Last night, as we were sitting together on the couch, she peed on me!  She was sitting on a pillow next to me and I didn’t realize it until I felt the warmth then the wetness.  UGH!  I loved that she was cuddling with me, but if it is going to include the pee, I will keep her off the couch.  I”ve looked at several other posts and other forums, and I don’t seem to fit a category of why she’s doing this.  She’s older, spayed, and otherwise healthy (checkup was just a month ago).  Any thoughts?  Thank you!

        Kay

I don’t really know… Sudden change of potty habits, especially in older rabbits, can be a sign of a urinary tract infection (UTI).

The nipping behavior may be if she doesn’t think she’s getting pet enough or as long as she wants to be. Try doing a short, high shriek when she bites to let her know that it hurts (even if it doesn’t hurt, just to let her know it’s not acceptable to use her teeth).

The peeing might just be an isolated event. If she was out for awhile and had to go pee, she just went.

Maybe keep an eye on her and see if it happens again, or if any of her litterbox habits start to slide.

Thank you!  I kind of wondered if the nips were her way if saying it was my turn for pets again. She’s a little bunny with big demands!

Sorry my post was kind of non-committal, but I’m really not 100% sure. Like I said, it could just be an isolated thing. The important thing is that you’re aware…

My parents have a yorkie that will gently scratch your hand if he’s sitting there and you stop petting him before he thinks he’s finished being pet. It’s super cute, but of course he’s only about 5 pounds, so the light scratching doesn’t hurt. Might be different if he were a large dog, lol!

Welcome to BB, by the way!
