  I love the opening ceremony for the Olympics. Russia is so rich in history too – it will be interesting to see what they highlight since it also has had a very volatile past.
  
  BTW has anyone seen today’s Google logo – very cool.
  
  My favorite Olympic opening ceremony by far was the Barcelona Summer Olympics – magnficent.

  Nope. I don’t have cable just Netflix Instant Play. I wouldn’t watch it if I did, though. Not only political reasons.

  Russia is an intriguing country, but there’s stuff going on there that isn’t cool. But that’s the case also with China.

  I didn’t watch the ceremony but will watch the competitions, I do like the Olympics. As for the controversy and politics, I don’t think Russia is the most controversial country to host the games so what’s new. Politicians aside, Russian people are very nice. I do like the mascots, they’re cute

  I agree with you MissD about that – their politics and problems are just more in the spotlight leading up to the event.
  
  I do love the opening ceremonies for the Olympics. When I was growing up and there was no cable TV :~) we always watched it and I was spellbound.
