Meh. That is how I’ve been feeling lately about Albert’s well, everything! He slowly started distancing himself from me after I came back from being away for two days. Then, with his illness, he really hates me since I had to force the antibiotics on him twice a day. He has taken to chewing on the damn foam floor too. He actually licks up the vinegar I put on all the tabs! I know this is only temporary, but he no longer wants to be touched or pet. He won’t hop up on my lap anymore and he won’t even let me pet him if I have food. He just generally has zero interest in interacting with me. It makes me so sad. I really do hope this goes away once he’s snipped because it really is discouraging. I just feel like we had such a strong bond and now, nothing.   He just used to be the sweetest bun. I guess I am imagining worst case scenarios. What if he actually stays this way? Do I have to start all over and re-bond with him once he’s neutered and his hormones have settled? Right now, if I’m being honest, being with him is zero fun. I feel like such a bad mom. He used to let me brush him, touch his eyes, nose, ears…whatever. (well not his feet! haha. that was impossible) I miss my sweet bun. I have to wait until March for his appointment. My vet charges 300 for a neuter but I found a fabulous low cost spay/neuter clinic that specializes in rabbits for 75. They do dogs and cats all the time but clear out the facility once a month and they do only rabbits that day. They are the same clinic that does all the snips for the Red Door rescue in Chicago.  Why can’t it be March yet?! Plus I’m super sick of snow! Double meh.

I totally understand what you mean. Bumpy was always kind of aloof, but he started warming up to me pretty good right around the time he was close to being able to be snipped! So the attention he -started- giving me, was only because he was beginning to get hormonal. Got snipped… back to being on ignore. It’s been about 3 months since his neuter and he has JUST now started to actually hang around us a bit, literally like the past couple days.

He is VERY food oriented, he would come to me during treat time… but once the treats were gone… back to ignore. I just decided I would let him do his own thing, and since now he’s a different bunny!

Hey Kbana – I saw your post early yesterday (sorry), my daughter turned up for a visit (bloody kids interrupting my bunny time!) and by the time she left the computer battery died, so went to bed – but I’m here now! to say – DAM bunny!
I so know what your saying, especially how your feeling, but you still have one up on me – Albert isn’t spraying! If he was, trust me you would dislike him as much as you ‘think’ he doesn’t like you (and I promise you ‘he doesn’t not like you’) he’s just being a teenager as you said. My ‘son’ thought he didn’t like me either till I stopped doing everything for him – he learnt to love me again quick smart! Shame we can’t do this with our bun’s. Henry was never a touchy/cuddly boy, so his neuter was to stop his poor toilet behaviour and I wasn’t expecting anymore out of it than that. But bugga me – admittedly it has been a good 5 months but Henry has become more sociable (what you say?). Yep! and guess what? I picked him up today (your the first to know) – not one scratch! WOO HOO! and he didn’t fight to get out of my arms (I’m still not sure who was more shocked? Him, cause he may have liked it? Or me, cause he actually let me? but I was scared the whole time, lol), so considering how ignorant my Henry has always been – I do believe there is a light at the end of tunnel for you and Albert after the neuter and his hormones settle. It can take months (sorry), but he should get there and that’s what counts. How awesome you are able to access a low cost clinic – my bill was the $300 (worth every cent cause of the spraying – if it wasn’t for the credit card, I would have robbed a bank!) and I just finished paying off his bill last month (yay!). I know March feels forever away, but it isn’t – it’ll be here before you know it. Your not a bad mum, don’t ever think that! Al is just being a ‘bratty bunny’ cause he can’t help it – no one’s fault. And I’m sure giving him medicine didn’t help – yuck!
The weather! Yes your weather has been on our news nearly every night – wow! This is gonna sound stupid, but we in Oz have been enduring heatwaves! It’s not so bad where I live at the moment, but down south is still suffering. I try to imagine your snow but when your wiping the sweat of your face it’s hard too. But when I see the pictures on tv every night I totally get how your over it. (and we Aussie’s pay to come over for the experience, ha ha hah!). We do live in a funny/silly world!
Wishing you a happy healthy ‘loving’ Albert and warm sunshine Kbana. Cheer’s Henry’s mum.

Aw thanks Manic Andi! It makes me feel better. I’ve tried to be more patient but it does make it hard when he just can’t be bothered.LOL
Last night he finally let me pet him (only when I hung my arms inside his pen but not when I was inside it with him) Then he flopped so dramatically and let me continue to pet him. It was too funny. The second I climbed in to continue our cuddle he decided No way bub! Oh well. baby steps! You’re right though, glad no spraying yet! Fingers and toes crossed!

Andi, I am so excited Henry let you hold him!! That is awesome! I hope that continues. Buns are just so incredibly cute! So hard not to cuddle them.

Yes, the snow here has been driving me crazy! 59 inches so far this winter and it is only Feb!! Today I’m stuck in the house cuz we are supposed to get 3 more inches and my car is just horrible in the snow! I slide everywhere! It doesn’t help that my normal commute to work is an hour. We got 4 inches of snow on Wed and it took me 2 hours to get to work! By the time I got there I was so stiff and sore. Thanks goodness they had someone to cover my classroom because I got there 20 min after my students didn! UGH! I don’t think I would like heatwaves either though. Can’t weather just be like 60-75 degrees everywhere all the time? Meh. I would kill to go to Aus! I can’t fly though. Well not well anyway. I can handle a 4 hour flight with heavy sedation. haha! Don’t think I could manage 20+!! Sigh.
