I realize it wasn’t the best idea, but I recently put a deposit down on another young holland lop. I couldn’t help but fall in love with him. Now I’m set to pick him on the 22nd at 11 1/2 weeks. Meeko will be almost 16 weeks at this time, and he recently got neutered, so his hormones should settle down by then. Would it be ok to house their condos next to each other? I want to get Marly in for a neuter once he’s settled in a bit. I also put a stuffy in Meeko’s condo, and he seems to really enjoy grooming it!

Now Meeko has got the best personality ever. He follows me, licks me, lets me hold him. He actually prefers to be held during car rides (to the vets & such) rather them being in a kennel, and was friendly from day one. I haven’t noticed any changes in personality, as he is far from timid. I realize that all bunnies are different though, so depending on how well Marly does the first few days will determine when I neuter him. Marly’s breeder has told me he’s really friendly though.

I’ll attach some photos of Marly below, since I haven’t posted any yet. I will be updating this post once the bonding process has started, but I could really use some tips on how to go about bonding them.

~ Here is the most recent photo of Marly at 9 weeks old.

          He is adorable!

It is fine to house them next to each other before bonding as long as they aren’t upset by it. You don’t want them to be upset and then end up not liking each other in the long run.

I agree with Dobby about housing them near each other.

Just remember that actual bonding sessions/introductions should wait until all bunnies are neutered or spayed for 4-6 weeks.

Dobby & MoveDiagonally — Thank you! I’ll try housing them in separate parts of my room first, and then go from there. I also don’t plan to start the bonding process until they have been given time to get their hormones out. Meeko was done on 24th, and Marly will get done probably sometime early March after he has had time to settle. My vet does the neutering as early as 12 weeks. Recommended by the House Rabbit Society, and they have done numerous spays & neuters. So I’m assuming mid-possibly early April might be a good time to start depending on when I neuter him?

kcomstoc — Hahaha! She is precious, the only girl in his litter. The only solid colored one too. Thank you!!

Haha! We hope Caleb finds himself a little buddy soon. I wanted to try two males, because of the dumb myth that boys can’t bond. Meeko & Marly are gonna try and prove that wrong! I prefer males anyway, nothing against females, it just something about the boys that always gets my attention. I’m really happy to see how many bonded male pairs we have here on BB though!

indeed I agree there’s just something about boy animals that is more comical/easy going (in my eyes)

Haha, yeah! I’ll be updating this post soon. I pick Marly up on the 22nd, so probably then.
