Daisy, our slightly overweight bun is back from being spayed. She had lost around 300grams in the three weeks we’ve had her, and the vet deemed her suitable.

It was apparently fairly routine, except her uterus was a little larger and had a couple of fatty deposits.
But, during the spay, they took approximately 200grams of tissue and fat from her. So, technically, she’s at an okay weight now.

She’s not really eaten much, but she’s pooping.

Just letting her have a quiet evening and day tomorrow while we’re at work/uni. Pretty confident that she’s fine, though.

I remember the vet I used to work for removing excess fat from the overweight animals on their spays. Must’ve been similar. Ha ha

HECA – – Someone from Hawaii. My husband has it in his head we’re moving to Maui in the upcoming years. I told him we can’t go without the rabbits. Now I’m afraid to get another rabbit (well, I have 4 already). He promised he would make it work to take them all.

Well… A little worried about DIsy. She hadn’t eaten over night or this morning. Have her a ton of greens and pellets before uni, I’m just hoping she’s eTen something when I get home later…

It can take 24-48 hours for females to start eating again. Her poops might not be very normal for a few days as the anesthesia works out of her system.

As said in another post… The key for me was hydration with Mdm Nermal De Nomnoms… Get down to her level and syringe a little water into the side of her mouth. nermal wasn’t happy at first but after a few minutes started to really want it. The first night I just gave her space to recover… Then I kept syringing water at intervals over two days she slowly regained her appetite starting with nice crunchy hay and finally starting to eat her salads again.

We’ve got a ton of emergncy, recovery food and gut stimulant and things if she doesn’t eat. She’s just such a wee, beautiful thing… So gentle natured and considering even though she’s approx 14 months old and we’re her first family, she was very quick to trust us. Our other buns when castrated and spayed bounced back so quickly…

Bleagh, I’m just having a quiet day in uni which is giving me the opportunity to worry, I think…

She’ll have had last night and today to recover quietly, will be home in two hours to check on the little lady. ^_^

Yay! (it still makes me laugh at how exciting poop is now that I have a rabbit)

She’ll be back to herself in no time!!
