I went to work for a couple of hours and this is what I came home to.  Except both were pretending to be asleep in opposite corners of the room.  Please help me figure out what I can do to fill this need to chew/dig/rip/burrow.  They have a couple of bunny condos and a huge box filled with junk mail, newspapers, etc. that they burrow and dig in to their hearts’ content.  Thankfully this was an old chair that we weren’t too attached to, but I’d like for it not to happen again.

LOL – well first of all I would not leave them out ever. A diggy box is a great idea but it is no guarantee that this type of thing will not happen again.

XD The picture is hilarious. What naughty rabbits.

Are they/are you wanting them to be free roam? Can you pen them while your out of the house and let them out when you’re home and able to supervise them?

Oh wow I thought a giant bag of popcorn had exploded in that pic! If they can’t be trusted while you’re out, just keep them caged. You can give them free roam when you return. Otherwise either block their access to furniture with barriers or completely remove them.

My first thought upon walking into the room was that they had somehow gotten into a non-existent giant bag of popcorn, too. Did you know that foam rubber is incredibly statically charged and therefore sticks to everything it comes into contact with? Yeah…me neither, until now.

Thanks for the advice! They’ve always been free roam, with Bandit (the brown-ish orange one) doing so for more than a year with no casualties other than a few cords we got careless about. Minerva, who joined our family 3 months ago, seems to be the ringleader. She’d done fine free roam up until now, but it looks like we’ll be breaking out the XL dog crate during the day (they both can jump over the side of an X-pen if there’s ANYTHING of any height in there with them) and supervising their playtime otherwise…

Some bunnies just can’t be free roam. I agree about keeping them contained when no one is home. They can be out when someone is at least within earshot to supervise.

Oh no! I’m so sorry but I fell off my chair laughing at that picture! Very naughty buns indeed.I hope it doesn’t happen again. x

Yeah sorry. But that is just absolutely hysterical! Too bad they just blew their chances at free roam

                        Haha. Too funny.

I agree with the others that some bunnies just cannot be free roam. You can try some type of no-chew spray, but you’re going to be spraying it all over your furniture and it does smell.

My goodness they sure were busy with that chair! I bet they had a good time. hehe I am glad to hear it was an old chair and not a newer one that you really liked. I don’t let my rabbits be free roam unless I am around because they will destroy stuff as well and have.

This pic could perhaps be very useful for preventing “unsuitable” prospective pet-owners from getting a cute little bunbun just because bunbuns are so cuuute. Bunbuns are not only cute, they are also very terrible little monsters of destruction and doom.

I love this picture. These bunnies know how to have a good time.

My only advice is to keep getting old furniture from yard-sales etc, never invest in sth new or sth you actually like more than just a little. The only other option as I see it is to keep the bunnies in a bunny-room stripped of everything of value to humans, or to keep them caged when they’re home alone.

I can’t read the sign on the chair!

The sign says “It was cold so we decided to make a new nest.  In a chair.” The rotten duo is on cage arrest with supervised play time. This weekend I’m going to use a Lowes gift card I got for Christmas and make them a first-class nic cube home. Without a chair in it. The worst part was cleaning up all the fluff. It stuck to everything!

You could also use “It was cold outside so we made an indoor snow fort with your furniture!”

I’d also avoid putting pillows anywhere near them too lol. Or you’ll come back to find an explosion of goose down haha

I’m new here but I couldn’t help but laugh at the picture!! I’ll bet they looked so innocent by the time you got home. Lol I would definately keep them caged while you are out or asleep. But wow yeah the clean up must’ve been horrendous. Such cute buns tho how can you be mad at those little faces.
