So we’ve gona back and forth on whether Simba was a boy or a girl, with various bunny folks giving differing opinions, but it’s official – he’s a HE!

He was neutered yesterday and seems to be doing well, though he pretty much just wants to laze around and not do too much. (See pic) And who can blame him! He hasn’t had much appetite but IS nibbling veggies, favorite fruit bits and a little hay. Pooping just fine.

I do have a question though – since he’s been home, all he really seems to want to do is CHEW HARD THINGS. He normally nibbles his wooden chews and cardboard boxes but it seems that in the 12 hours after he got home he actively sought out stuff to chew and went after it with gusto. Is this a way of dealing with pain or frustration? He’s been very cuddly – even jumps up onto the couch for pets and snuggles, so I don’t think it hurts TOO much and I am hesitant to give him any pain meds that might slow his gut or lessen his appetite if I don’t have to.  Any thoughts on the chewing? SHOULD I give him a pain shot?

It’s definitely possible – some animals have a higher pain threshold than others. Do you have metacam you can try first for pain?

Just looked and found some Metacam from when Jo was spayed… will give that a try. Thanks Sarita

I’m glad the neuter went well. How is he doing today?

                  He’s back to about 90%!
Haven’t seen a full fledged binky yet, but his appetite is good and he’s running up & down the stairs so all seems great! Phew!!! Thanks for the good wishes!!
