Smudge was a cottontail baby my grandma found in her yard. I didn’t have high hopes that he would survive, but he was definitely in my heart pretty deep. He was so tiny! I just wanted to share his cute lil face with everyone. (:

My neighbor had a cotton tail as a pet when I was growing up. She was very sweet. I think that was when I started wanting a rabbit. We found a baby in the yard once but it didn’t survive. We also came across a nest and got to watch them grow up from afar.

We had so many crazy run ins with wild life growing up, and I learned so much. We had a nest of red tail hawks fall from a tree, so we built them a temp nest in a milk crate and placed it high in a tree. The mother raised her young there year after year. I had a baby squirrel that fell from the nest for a few years, but we gave him to some rehab friends of my father. He got to be with other squirrels.

I really love wild animals but there chances are slim when they lose their mom so young. at least he was loved to the end.
