Hi my dad came into my room earlier to see my bunny and he tried to pick her up and he dragged her by her ears and she ran away! I got really pissed off! He didn’t actually pick her up by her ears, just dragged her out of her house but then she ran away! I got so mad because I love her so much! I no a bunny should never be picked up or pulled by there ears, that’s why I’m asking if she will be okay? He didn’t like pull her across her cage or anything just out of her house and then she ran away! I’m just wondering if her ears will be fine????

You just have to observe her, she’ll most likely be fine. It was probably painful for her, but hopefully no other damage was done. Holding/pulling a bunny by it’s ears could make the neck snap, but a rabbit with a snapped neck obviously doesn’t run anywhere.

You should probably teach your dad how to properly pick up a bunny. Many people who are inexperienced with rabbits see the ears as a convenient “handle”, but as you know it’s not safe. Now you just need your dad to know too =)

Sadly many people have seen magicians pull rabbits from hats and for a long time people were even being educated that it was the best way to handle a rabbit. Don’t be too hard on your Dad but let him know gently that times have changed and now it is well known that this harms a bunny and causes them pain…
