My bunny is usually let out of his cage during the day and in when I go to sleep. I am planning on getting a bigger cage soon but right now I feel it is beginning to get too small for him. I decided to try leaving him out at night and for the past two nights my bunny found a way to get into my bed. I thought it was cute the first night and didn’t mind being woken up by binkies and bunny 500’s being run around me. But on the second night my bunny was constantly eating my hair and taking over my pillow. He seemed so happy though with the freedom and he loved to lay with me by I don’t think I can Handel another night with him. Will he be mad to go back in his cage now that he is used to complete freedom? Does anyone else sleep with their bunnies?

I used to sleep with Powder, before he chose to sleep with his girly instead (bonded) – first few nights he was a pain in the neck with walking/hopping/zooming/licking my pillow constantly but he settled down and started sleeping just beside my pillow and only occasionally kicked his back legs out and kicked me in the face lol

If you cage him again he may chew on the bars or something for a few nights, but he should adjust. You could also try using an x-pen to make his cage bigger at night. Or block off your bed.

I sleep with my bunny Yohio. He mostly stays under the bed, or, as of late, at the foot-end of the bed, but in the mornings, he has a tendency to try to wake me up. The most effective method is hair-chewing. I don’t want bangs.

It was worse in the beginning, I have been rather successful with my counter-method: Ignoring him. I can ignore the bunny 500s, the zoomies, the face-licking etc, but if he starts munching away at my hair, I have no choice.

He’ll probably be mad at first if you put him back in his cage. I love having Yohio in and around my bed, but that’s the human’s choce, not the bunny’s. After all it’s you who have to sleep well so you can be alert in school or at work.

There is a possibility that your bun calms down just as Yohio has done once your bed is nolonger a new and fantastic adventure.

I always have Rufus on my bed for a cuddle session as the last thing I do before bedtime. Often we both fall asleep when I have my arm around him. He always wakes me up sometime during the night by licking my nose and eyelids (weirdo!) when he wants to use the litterbox and then I go and put him back in his cage.

Does your bun normally have access to your bed when he’s out? It might just be a new environment for him. I agree with the others and think if you let him get used to the bed in the day time, he’ll probably be more relaxed about it at night.

Yes my bunny has acess to my bed all day but he only has ever gone on it at night. He is usually under the bed during the day.

Then it’s probably not the bed in itself, it’s probably being with you in the bed that makes him happy and exhilarated. Yohio is under the bed during day-time.

My Henry is free range and he sleeps under my bed at night, and even his daytime naps on occassion. (why does he have his own home? Oh yer, toilet, food & water, lol). In the beginning he did jump up (4am – who needs a clock?), but now I’m guessing either he’s over it/bored or I have just learned to sleep through it???? In any case, it’ll take a while (for me, a few months), but yes, all good now. I too think it’s cute/sweet!

I would like to sleep with my bunny but I am scared she might get hurt somehow as I am sleeping.

Same here, Rufus! My senior bunny Min is a cuddler, and often at night the other three are running around crazy, much to her dislike. She hops up on the bed and we have a cuddle session while hubby and I watch TV, and oftentimes I awake to find myself sleeping next to bunny. I don’t mind this, since she’s not exactly in shape to do binkys or bunny 500s.

I actually enjoy Min’s companionship, and don’t mind letting her in bed.
