Sally has this terrible habit of humping Harley when she gets excited. Mainly when she hears the crumple of a bag opening up. Dinner time and treats are the worse! Or when I first wake up in the morning and it’s about that time to open the gate to let them out. They greet me at the gate and Sally starts running back and forth and then will try and hump Harley. And well, Harley HATES it. Is this a dominating behavior? Does anyone elses buns do this? Do you think it will cause future problems? Because I can tell that Harley hates it and quickly puts her back in her place.

I notice it every time food and treats are around.

I used to have a female pair and one of the females always did this when she got excited. The other rabbit didn’t seem to mind. I’m not sure if it was dominance or just excitement.

I think some bunnies just hump when they are excited. Bindi sometimes tries to hump the cookie bag when I take too long to open it.

LPT I laughed at the cookie bag remark lol too funny just picturing it. Well hopefully Harley will grow to tolerate it better. Poor fella haha

Helo humps other bunnies when I distribute treats sometimes. Once I was too slow and he humped Inara (that’s your half sister you little weirdo!) and totally fell off/flopped mid hump. Sometimes he humps the others after they’ve all been given treats too. I know it’s going to happen because his little tail starts twitching. Banana seems to instigate this more often than other treats.

I think some bunnies just get really excited over food. Lol.

Rufus tries to hump my hand when I’m putting food in his cage or am too slow to pick him up. He gets a bit grunty too. It’s very cute really, a bit like he’s trying to hug my arm.

Haha, Rufus! My Cinder is doing that, too! She just won’t let up!

My Kimiko used to do the same to Jasmine and then Usagi. I gave her a stuffed animal bunny one day to just have something to cuddle with (she was a little aggressive at the time) and now she humps that when I get home or go in their area for play time/food.

Foo gets excited when she plays sometimes, or when she has something fleece to snuggle with, like my husband’s bathrobe. She’ll snuggle, groom and hump, and then flop. But that’s the only time she does this. And I agree, if an arm happens to be there, it does feel like she is hugging us!
