        Hi everyone!

I have a 10 month old flemish giant and was looking for advice on housing. Right now she is in a dog crate (?) and it works, its just extemely messy. I was thinking about putting plexi glass around the sides, but she had pasturella when I first brought her home and I want to keep her cage as ventilated as possible. Do you guys think building an indoor hutch would be better or any ideas are welcome =)

        Thanks in advance!!

I have a picture of her housing on my profile page for anyone who wants to see. It’s nothing special though, and she is mostly litter trained.

She’s cute – I would recommend an exercise pen (usually found in the dog section). It’s called either an x-pen or a playpen as well.

Thanks for the compliment and reply!!! I like that idea a lot! I use a small one for my two smaller bunnies to run around and play in. I’m worried that she’ll jump over it when I’m not home (she climbs on everything in her area and when she stands on her hind legs she comes up to my navel). I’m definitely going to keep looking into the ex pens though! Thank you again!

She is a beauty My bunny is house trained and has free range. When I would have to leave she used to have to go back in her cage but I knew she needed something bigger. I stumbled across a playpen on clearance at petco one day and I arranged it so that it blocks off a large corner area. She absolutely loves it! Luckily though she is a holland lop so she is only about 5 pounds and can’t jump over it. I suggest something like that but since she is so big make sure you find something that is stable and high. Hope that helps! Good luck

You can use x pen panels as a lid. see this link for an example

My flemish mix jumped over a 4 ft kennel when she was about 6 months old. We installed a kennel top after that incident.

Most X-Pen manufacturers  also sell covers both cloth and wire (wire being the same material as the x-pen) for $25-30.

I am hoping to use the X-Pen set up for my 3 once fully bonded … Dont know if hubby will be too happy with it though. He prefers a cage as the mess is more “contained” apparently.

If you’re going to be a rabbit fanatic, don’t let that man know until you have the wedding ring on your finger. Then he can’t escape! He he he. My honey didn’t know what he was getting into, but he’s just given in. We were passing the shelter yesterday and he offered to stop, but I kept saying no. He said, “last entrance”. I said, “that’s ok”. Sad face.

He slammed on the brakes, swerved in the parking lot and told me to take my time, he’d wait in the car. Spoils me rotten! Don’t know what he’d do if I came back out with #5. There’s a giant girl with a HUGE dewlap I really want. He’d probably just sigh, give her a pet and that would be that.

Tsuki- Adorable bunny! I hope the X-pen works well!

MegaBunny- Aww, 5 is not that many, the lady that owns the local rabbit rescue has 15 bonded buns. You should get her.

15 BONDED bunnies? That’s sounds insane even to me! I told my hubby that when I win the lottery I’m getting my own rescue facility because rabbits make me happy just looking at them. You’re a bad influence, Longeared, but I’ll let him know what you think. Ha ha. I think I have to meet this gal firsthand. She’s already 5 y.o. and owner too sick to care for. I think she’d be adorable w/ my Giant Chin.
My Giant Chin is pretty attached to us. Can anyone tell me if he’s likely to be less attached to us if I gat him a friend? The last bunny I got was supposed to be his friend, but she has such a sensitive tummy, idk if I can ever house her w/ another.
