She’s eating fine, showing no discomfort, I’ve only noticed it this morning and we’ve just moved back to Uni away from my usual vets. Unfortunately this means I’m reluctant to take her to the local vets because of how expensive it is, since it doesn’t seem to be bothering her? (Also my next student loan comes through in 3 weeks time so I’m living on borrowed money anyway..)

Here is a photo of Trixie for reference.

I’ve just run my finger along her top teeth and it doesn’t feel any sharper than usual.

        Any advice?

I don’t think it matters as long as she eats. Their teeth grow continuosly. The front teeth are mostly for pulling the food into the mouth, then the inner teeth take over. I think she’s still capable of pulling hay etc into her mouth even with this chip off. Eventually the teeth will become level.

PS: How wonderfully disapproving she looks in your profile-pic!

The chip itself is no big deal. It will grow out since bunny teeth grow constantly.

What maybe a concern is that whatever caused to the chip may also have knocked the tooth out of aliment causing malocclusion. If this has happened, the tooth will not wear down properly and become over grown. Time will tell.

Basically, it’s great that she’s OK for now, but you need to keep a very close eye on her for the next couple of months to make sure it doesn’t develop into a problem.

Thank you to you both for your reassuring words!
I like to think I know all about bunnies but sure enough something will throw me every now and again.
I’m due to travel back home in February so I think I’ll take Trixie home with me and to our usual vet for a check up, and I promise I’ll keep an eye on her mouth and eating habits over the next few weeks.

Bam: Haha, thank you! I think she was indignant about the flash. I like to make her hats to wear but she doesn’t seem to appreciate them!
