Happy New years everyone!!!!! Hope your bunnies are all doing well!!!!!

My new years resolution is to spend more time with my bun, if thats even possible!!  He already gets so much attention… 

I’ll start off with some pictures of my Cinnamon!!!!!!

Here’s a short video of my rabbits in the downstairs pen, where they go for exercise until I rabbit proof the living room. I made it for the shelter staff so they can see how the rabbits are doing. Scully and Mulder lived in the shelter for a year and a half, so I would be curious if I took care of something that long. I rearranged it a little last time I cleaned it and gave them a new box, towel, etc in addition to everything being washed and mopped–you can tell it really confused them lol.

I often find myself wishing I could cut out the middle man and just vacuum my rabbits…

I really, really like black rabbits. I think it’s just because my first ever was black but now I’m automatically attracted to them lol.

Sometimes I think we need a tutorial with screen shots to upload pictures to this forum. I guess it’s not very intuitive because this is a common problem.

Zombie Sue, can’t wait to see some photos of your bunnies’ lovely faces! They seem like very happy buns. Also, here is a good tutorial on how to upload pix.

Jersey, how are you doing this magic trick? I wish I could vacuum the buns but it would be quite traumatic, for everyone in the house. I love how Rumball lifts his head when you’re sucking his face fur, such a good little boy!

Usagi is gorgeous! His coloring and eyes make him look so wise.

Yes Usagi’s nose is white and his eyes are blue. My darn camera does not remove red eye though it is suppose to. He is super fluffy and poofy since his last molt a couple of months ago. I will try to take pictures of Kilala she is even harder to get pictures of.

It’s funny as he’s a no-touch bun, very wary of hands i think because he hates being picked up. So anytime hands come toward him, hes off. Yet i can put my feet on him and he’s fine. Lol. He’s always had a curiousity about vac cleaner and power tools. Comes up to see what’s happening. I’m not sure why.
Oh and my cleaner has a very low setting where its quiet and the suction’s gentle.

Zombie-Sue, there actually is a pictorial how-to guide pinned in the Tech forums. I’m not certain if the techniques still apply though. Adding pics seems to be problematic at the moment. Especially as many now use so many different devices and browsers now.

 I didn’t know that, how interesting! Learn something new everyday, huh?  

What makes them Vienna marked? Usagi doesn’t look very similar… Is it the patch of colour on the nose/face?

Google will prob give better explaination :p but I’ll try. It basically means they carry the Vienna gene and its showing in some form. Other buns can be carriers but it won’t show in their markings. When you have 2 copies of the gene, you get blue-eyed white rabbits. When there’s only one copy, you get Vienna marked rabbits. The marks vary a lot. It may be coloured rabbits with blue eyes or half the iris is blue and often white on the nose. Sometimes it might be just a white paw.
I think some Dutches (that have the Dutch gene) can get blue eyes too so it’s possible Paddington has that instead but I’m guessing its more the Vienna gene responsible.
I’m not entirely sure how it all works. I’m really just repeating what I learnt from conversations on bb in the past. Plus some googling of course.

Bunnytownes Cotton is a good example of a Vienna marked rabbit. He’s a little lionhead but has blue eyes and a Dutch-like pattern markings.

Usagi is suppose to be a netherland dwarf, however the place I got him from also breeds polish so he might be a polish instead. I saw an ad for netherland dwarf rabbits and when I called to go look at the rabbits they had they then tell me they had like 500 rabbits of all types and gathered up some for me to look at. I also have a female netherland and she is small compared to him and her ears are shorter as well. She doesn’t quite weigh 2 lbs and I think Usagi is almost 3 or so.

Very cute! Looks like he enjoyed it.

Just for your information, harnesses aren’t recommended for rabbits. If they panic they can easily break their back or limbs. So don’t waste your money on it, if you want him to enjoy the outdoors, a covered x-pen would be the way to go. Or bunny proof your balcony.

MissD: Good luck finding a bunny wife for Buddy! He’s such a cute guy. If you take him dating, I’m sure the girls will fight over him. I guess he stayed close to his veggie bowl so he’s ready when it refills itself! That’s what our dog does, she randomly checks her bowl in case more food magically appeared.

They hang out together.  This isn’t posed.  

He is a perfect bunny – uses his litterbox, doesn’t dig in it, doesn’t chew his pen, gently takes treats from my hand, isn’t scared by the renos next door, and eats his hay and veggies!

@Calipa- Haha, we did the same thing a couple weeks ago… the buns loved it too. We’re in West Chester so I understand, can you believe it’s supposed to be colder on Tuesday with a high of 10? I recommend getting another bun as long as you have the room, money, and time for bonding. I wouldn’t worry about him loving you less, if you give him the same amount of attention, he will always love you.
@MissD- Buddy!!! I always love seeing pics. Can’t wait to see the lucky bun who gets to bond with him. Has he been speed dating yet?
@Lady Ananke- Chloe is a beauty and so is that dog! Such kind gentle eyes, aw…

Yes, Mulder and Scully are siblings, and they are like within a half a pound of eachother. I can tell that the middle one is Scully, though, because Mulder has a permanent marker X drawn on the inside of his ear (by me for this very purpose) and you can see that she does not lol. I often refer to them as “the twins.”

Thank you, I was so afraid my husky wouldn’t get along with Chloe, but all seems well. Chloe likes to cuddle in her fur (If I can catch it again with my camera charged, I will take a photo ) And that has to be one of the cutest photos ever!

I have to share this one that I took today. It was a frigid 9 degrees here, so Gizmo and I (mostly me) took action to keep warm! He actually stayed under the blanket a lot longer than I expected he would, but he’s always been very casual. I put a block on top of his head today and he sat there for a good couple of minutes before he moved.

Oh my goodness, I love all these bunnies!  I’m still new to posting here, but I just had to come and share my new bundle of joy!  I’ve been on the search for a buddy for Cooper (2yr old mini lop) for a few weeks and just before New Year’s I stopped by a shelter and fell in love with a 2.5yr old flemish giant.  They told me he wasn’t really up for adoption but go ahead and put in an application and they’d call me if that changed.  A week later I got the call and after a near-perfect meet and greet with Cooper, I brought home my new boy, Sheldon!

mijOok- Lucky lets me hold him, but kinda freaks out if my boyfriend picks him up…(he doesn’t hold him like I do, I snuggle him next to me and my boyfriend holds him out away from him..not sure why) Lucky has always been affectionate, well once he got used to his new surroundings. He jumps in bed with me every morning and wants petting and to groom me, and at night he likes to groom me as well.

CooperLop- awww Cooper looks like he and Sheldon will be BFFs! I really want to get a male companion for Lucky, it’s always good to see two male rabbits bonded because all I have read is to try a female first but I really prefer having male pets.

It has come to my attention that Alby has been trying to take his box on the 3rd level of his bunny condo and slide down his ramp in it. I kept finding it all over the place in the condo and thought he was just flinging it around, but tonight I caught him in the act. He made it halfway down and then panicked and ran back up. He’s such a goof. Going to rearrange his condo tonight to move the box to the lower level so he doesn’t hurt himself, but maybe during supervised play time I’ll let him have his slide back

calipa- That’s cute that Lucky grooms you all the time. I can see why you’d be hesitant in bringing another bun into the mix when Lucky is so affectionate with you. Who knows, you might luck out finding another bun just as sweet and get twice the lovin! Also, have you tried stuffing craisins in the Yucca holes? Lol, Lucky will go to town when you do.

CooperLop- Omg, Cooper and Sheldon are such a cute pair! It always makes me smile when you see bunnies meet and get along for the first time. I can’t believe Cooper is already grooming him on the 4th date! Your boy moves quick lol.

We got Oscar a little surprise at Petsmart the other day. Since he’s been having some trouble with his hocks I fixed it up with a custom fitted piece of carpet. He wasn’t all that impressed.

I have to share a few more pictures. I was SUCH a happy bunny mama last night! Working on some training and bonding with Brenna last night and she actually laid ON my leg. She was one tiny hop away from sitting in my lap. And she stayed there for a good amount of time. AAAAH SO HAPPY.

Is it not common for a bunny to be super affectionate? I did think I got lucky with him because he kisses incessantly. He tries to lick my sons, but they get freaked out that he will bite, which is super rare…he does nibble if he wants petting and I think that’s what they are afraid of.

I got back yesterday from a month-long trip home for the holidays. I’m living in Canada, but I’m from Portugal, so I can only afford to go home once a year, and I try to make it for a good chunk of time. I had friends Chester-sitting for me and giving me updates regularly, but I was really worried that Chester was going to be upset with me for leaving. He was actually quite happy to be back home and with me    He’s also decided he needed to guard my suitcase, in case I ever decide to leave again:

@calipa- The buns love fresh fruit too, but craisins is something else, makes them crazy. As for bunnies being affectionate,  I think it depends on their personality and how they were raised can be a factor. But you should feel special to have such a close bond with Lucky.

Nugget grooms us a lot too, he will start with the hair and go down to the brows, and anywhere else you let him lick. Most of the time, he wants something in return, like petting or food.

I wish I could have taken Chester with me, but it was two flights each way, with more than 12h travelling time. It would be too cruel for a month trip. I am really happy to be back with him though! I missed him so much.

Nuggetbuns: Oscar having his own show would be awesome, although I’m afraid it would get cancelled quickly because he would just end up insulting his audience. 

calipa: I think you are quite lucky to have such an affectionate bunny, or maybe I’m just unlucky.  Oscar is my 4th rabbit, and only one out of the bunch gave lots of kisses. I miss it, I was hoping Oscar would be the same in that regard. He has his own little personality though, and I can live with that.

Olivia has the cutest nose

Well, we took Buddy to a rescue to see if we could find him a wife and he really liked one girl so we brought her home and are now working on bonding them. It’s still early days and Buddy humps her constantly, but we are keeping our fingers crossed. We haven’t picked a name yet as we are not sure they will bond, she was called Cookie in the rescue. She is absolutely adorable, I love her already, sweetest bun ever and a great hay eater (she had a ton today).

omg I’ve missed seeing everyone’s bunnnssss!  So adorable.  I swear I hear Agnes’ voice (Despicable Me), “ITS SO FLUFFFEHHH!”

 Bumpy has everyone wrapped around his furry little toes, although Outlaw is NOT liking the competition for attention.  Bumpy also thinks he is a dog.  I can’t go to the bathroom alone, ever, and sometimes I walk just inside the door and peek around the corner to watch everyone mosey down the hallway after me.  Outlaw… Bandit… -wait for it-… bouncy bouncy bouncy -ears flapping- and BUMPY!  So funny to watch them follow the leader.  And since Outlaw is such a pig, whenever he hears anything happening that might be linked to food, he is THERE!  Well… Bumpy now just watches the dogs.  If they are surrounding me, he KNOWS there is a reason!  He promptly runs up and periscopes, leaning against them, standing on their backs, walking on his tippy-toes those last few steps to weasle in-between the two.  (I must get a picture of this).  Anyway!  Here’s Bumpy after a long day of bunny 500s!

Zombie-Sue you are correct his coat color is otter. When I first saw netherland dwarf rabbits I said I wanted one that color I ended up with agouti and a smoke pearl colored netherlands. hehe

He’s supposedly pure flemish, but he’s from the SPCA, so it’s all based on what the owner told them. He is 12-13lb so on the small side, but when he poses his body sure does look like a pure flemish.

Chester is such a couch bun! I’m always jealous when I see buns lounging on the couch or bed. Nugget likes to bother us on the couch but can never sit still, let alone lay down. Emilee hopped onto the couch once, and then never again. 

Sometimes I play music for them and Emilee always reacts to it so I know she’s listening. Yesterday I was listening to a song from Disney’s Frozen and Emilee was hypnotized! She stood there and seemed like she was in a trance. Now I have to watch Frozen with her

NuggetBuns, Chester used to be like that! Then I started giving him treats so he’d come to the couch when I was skyping with my family, so they could see him. And after that I’d pet him then he got used to the attention and whenever he heard the skype connection sound would come running! Now he randomly chills with me on the couch when he feels like it. I do get nosebumps if I don’t pet him enough, though
