Hi! I have a really important question that I can’t seem to find a straight answer to no matter how much researching I do!My mini rex rabbit has pinworms(it looked identical the pics I found on internet, and it was not flat, so I doubt its tapeworm), and I am wondering is it really species specific? Some sites say they are, some say they aren’t, some say dogs can’t get pinworms at all(I have 4 dogs in the house), others say they can, some say humans can only get pinworms from other humans, others say you can get them from pets. Even vet sites had differing opinions! Please help! I am afraid to let him out of his cage becuase I don’t want him to spread the eggs for the rest of my pets to get, or worse, my family. What are the real facts? He seems completely normal. And I wouldn’t have known anything was wrong if I hadn’t seen the worm on a poo pellet when I was doing his nails. Thank you for your replies in advance.

I would contact a vet for answers to this – in any event she does need to be treated if she does in fact have pinworms.

I agree with Sarita. If he has pin worms then he needs treatment for them. I would contact your vet and schedule an appointment.

But is it transferable to my family or pets?

Usually it is species specific but I’m not sure which is why you should contact the vet.
