My dad had to seal the cage sidings with caulk because pee was soaking through. I thought it would be fine but about ten minutes ago I noticed Othello was licking the side of his cage, I looked and about the whole entire front side of his cage has been licked off!!! I’m really worried. I have him in his carrier right now (which he is absolutely protesting) but I’m seriously worried. I don’t know what to do. Will he be okay? should I just cover the sides with towels and let him in his cage?? (he will try to get to it though) i’m freaking out hardcore though.

        help. hahah

Ooo Not good… First Ring your vet and let them know you may need to come in and why… mean while, hay, water and veg, lots of treats…anything to fill up his digestive tract and keep things moving… Sealant is meant purely to SEAL things and you do not want that happening to your bunnies GI tract. Monitor poops and urine to make sure everything is still moving through. If it looks like things are blocked back off with the food and get to your vet asap.

Was the caulking dry? If it was dry and solid, then it would be pieces moving through his system. In that case, I would treat it like any other accidental ingestion. Give him plenty of hay and water to keep things moving. Monitor poop.

If it was dry, and he didn’t ingest too much, it should pass through. Zeus has eaten dried bathroom caulk before, bad bunny.

If it was wet, I think I’d be more concerned. In either case, call your vet. Often times they can just do a quick phone consultation. When Zeus ate a plastic toy I bought him I called them and spoke with the vet, who gave me instructions. It was also a nice heads up, where if I needed to bring him in, the vet already knew the situation.

How long ago has he done this? If things are still moving he should be okay… My bun ate half of a towel once, and he came through just fine.

                  The sealant was wet :/
But yea before I went to bed I filled up his food + water bowl and gave him lots of hay and he’s eating it. And I just woke up and there’s poop in the cage.. I’m going to call the vet this morning though.
