Ok so when I first got Honeybunny my rabbit, he would bite me ALOT and it was so hard that it drew blood. And one day Honeybunny bit me and hanged onto me! I gave him a tap on the nose and said NO! From then on he seemed to know that I was in pain then and he never bit me again. Until one day he was running around the family room, and I was petting him when he just bit me! It wasn’t hard enough to draw blood but it hurt like MAD! I put him back in his cage for a time out.

Did I mention he is not spayed and is a Netherlands Dwarf rabbit? Please help me!

If he’s not neutered, it’s most likely hormonal aggression. How old is he?

Are you planning on having him neutered?

This behavior is very typical of an unaltered rabbit. I would encourage you to get him neutered!

No I am not thinking of getting him spayed because where I live to get 1 bunny spayed costs like about 3000 bucks!

I just saw you live in South Africa on your profile – I’m not sure I’ve ever seen any other South Africans on here who may have some ideas or options for you regarding neutering!

Re-reading your first post – giving him “time out” won’t make him understand anything either. Haha! Rabbits learn through positive reinforcement. Have you ever tried the yelling really hard trick? When he bites you, screech really loudly and turn your back on him. It’s what another rabbit would do (rabbits hate when you turn your back to them) and will help show that he hurt you.

Another thing I used to do was kind of gently push their heads to the floor and hold it there for a few seconds (not hard though). They HATE that because it shows a sign of dominance to them. But it do wonders for one of my young rabbits when he was a baby and wouldn’t stop biting.

Ok thanks! That helped me ALOT!
