After being inspired by a few rabbit trick videos on YouTube I decided to give clicker training a go. This morning I introduced Sheldon to the clicker. I would click then give him a treat. This was to help give him the idea that click means a treat is coming.

Tonight, I attached a styrofoam ball on the end of a skewer. I positioned this in front of his nose, said ‘Target’ (verbal cue) and when he touched it, I clicked, and then rewarded. For his first time, I felt he did really well, and there were a few cases where I positioned the target a little further away, and he had to hop once to get to it. It’s a bonus that he loves food so much, so I can use regular veggies as treats as well, so he doesn’t get too much junk food.

Sounds like you are off to a good start and are familiar with clicker training. For more detailed instructions, check out the website http://www.clickerbunny.com. The book shown is sold in the BB store, along with little clickers if you need more.

Um, I’ve tried with my dog, but unfortunately he was terrified of the sound the clicker made. I bought that books a few weeks ago! I’m now teaching him to stand and spin around

That’s awesome! I want to clicker train Alby once he is neutered & healed (2 weeks til the big day). Keep us posted with any tips you find along the way!

Clicker training has been going great. He’s really good at the target trick, and standing up and spinning he’s becoming really good at! He lives for his pellets, so he’d do anything for them! I’m wondering what to teach him next… I’d love to pretend to shoot him and then he flops, how cute would that be!
