Hi all I have a four year old netherland dwarf she’s neutered and I’ve had her since she was a baby she s usually a good bunny a bit moody but she uses a litter box and doesn’t chew furniture etc  and I leave the cage door open for pretty much most of the day so she can hop in and out as much as she wants I feed her at night and she usually hops back in her cage as soon as I’ve put the food down however over the last week or so she wont go back in her cage I cant think of a reason why as nothing in the house or in her cage has changed, can anybody please help thanks

There may be no reason other than she doesn’t want to go in…have you tried a treat to get her back in her cage?

i’ve tried treats she just ignores them, which is very unusual because I don’t give her treats that often so she usually goes crazy for them,

When she goes in her cage at night, are you locking her in? If so, that could be why…. My boy made it impossible to get him to bed at night for that reason. Through the day, no probs! he happily went to and from his house, he knew he wasn’t being ‘locked’ in. But at night – impossible!

My girl bun started to get that way. Treats wouldn’t work. She use to get all her pellets in the morning so I broke her pellet feedings to twice a day and that worked for a while. Then I increased her cage size because she likes to play at night and I put off buying her a bigger cage since I thought she would be bonded to my other rabbit by now. So I increased her cage size. Both have made a world of difference. I am not sure how big your cage is but I know mine now jumps in willingly when I come into her room to cage her for the evening. Maybe try splitting up her feeding if she likes her pellets like mine does and see if that helps.
