HI There I am from Australia and a new bunny mummy. My little boy is 9 weeks old I got him from somebody that was wrongfully told he had 2 bunnies the same sex he got his bunnies for when his grand kids. One day noticed that one of his bunny was pulling fur out he thought that was odd he later found out she was building a nest and bingo baby bunnies. unknown of this I had said to hubby I want a pet thinking I would love a bunny as I had one for a very short time when I was a young child about 7 or 8 dad brought him home and put him into a old chicken pen that night he escaped who knows what happen to him . Any way mum said that is it no more bunnies life went on. I grew up and had babies 5 of them and 4 grand babies but most of my life renting only and never was in the position of having a bunny until now. I had spoke to hubby about this and he said yea sure if you want a bunny you can have a bunny so off I went seeking out information reading as much as I can and what I would need. Seeing the price’s of bunny hutches I thought well after Christmas as I wanted to be well and truly prepared to bring my new bun home.

Hubby said I’m going to the pub for a few with me mates so off he went came home carrying a box.I said what is in the box  come out here with me he put the box on the table and said have a look I opened up the box and seen the bunny he was so cute I said how, what, who, where, how old boy or girl, Too many questions most of them were answered but the sex onto the computer to find out how to sex a rabbit I seen videos and read and looked at photos of I went and did found the little pink thing did the push down did not see it pop up took a wild guess girl I tossed around a few names and put them out of Facebook to see what others thought.

Clover was on the top of the list. Clover made sense to me 1. it sounds like a bunny name. 2. Where I live we have the Irish fest the 4 leaf clover is the symbol of the fest. 3. Bunnie was born here. 4. the Irish fest is held over the Easter long weekend So Clover it is.

I got my bunny he was only about 6 weeks old that would be going onto 3 weeks ago now. I know the bun was still should be with his mummy but I did not know at the time. A few days ago I after watching more videos I found a good video where a man had showed just where to push to get the pop up and now he was older I had another look pushed down and what did I see pop up with a circle oh she is a he. It mattered to me none Clover my bunny and I love him. I  don’t know what breed he is but am fairly sure he is cross maybe of many breeds but anyway I thought I would join and learn about how to be the best bunny mummy I can be.

Congrats on the new bunny! Isn’t it amazing… once a bunny lover, always a bunny lover, sometimes even decades later! That is so awesome you’ve finally been able to get another bun.

You will find that things are so, so, so different than they were years ago. Rabbits are now accepted as housepets and it’s recommended that they be housed indoors for their protection. Exotic vets now specialize in rabbit health and will routinely spay/neuter rabbits to help make them better indoor companions and improve their health and quality of life.

It can be very tricky to sex rabbits, especially young ones. If you haven’t already, begin a search for a local exotic vet and set up an appointment for him sometime in the next few weeks (a “bunny wellness exam”) and the vet will sex him for you, make sure he IS a he, and discuss diet, neutering, etc… with you.

If you have any questions, please ask! And I do hope you can post some pictures of your new guy!
