Hey guys! Barney and Belle have been bonded for quite some time now with no problems at all … well no problems for them anyway!

They have become SO DESTRUCTIVE!!! Barney is being led astray by Belle, the naughty 3 legged juvenile Pulling up carpet, chewing my bed, chewing a sizeable hole in carpet, all of which arent great considering I live in rented accomodation!!

So I’m taking them home for the month I’m away from university for Christmas, and they will have pretty much free run of the conservatory, which would be great if Belle stopped leaving little poos everywhere!!!! It’s driving me mad, I pick them up all the time and Barney has always been sooo good, I dunno why she cant be Any hints and tips to make her pick up her habits!?

        Any help appreciated!

        Anna, Barney and Belle x

When I read your forum title, I thought pellets (food) ha ha… and was gonna join in your whinge about the mess our buns make while eating – got that one wrong! LOL! Your wanting help with the other pellet! (Gosh, don’t I feel silly?). Sorry AnnaW – can you believe out of every naughty thing a bunny can do (& my Henry does it all) the only issue I haven’t had a problem with since he was neutered is his #2 pellets. So sadly I can’t offer you any advice, not even a suggestion – doh! But, I do get your frustration, my boy was an absolute horror before his little op. I do know that plenty of others have had simular issues (with no 2’s) and I’m sure they will be able to offer suggestions on how to overcome Belle’s issue. Wishing you & Barney (he has to live with her!) good luck. He he he….

Haha oh yeah sorry! That was probably very misleading :p They ARE messy little devils when eating their dinner too, but I find that less irritating than pooing everywhere Haha! So much mess and destruction, what has happened to my little angels!?!? Thanks!

Oh Anna that was sooo funny – we gotta laugh at ourselves! Hey, I just clicked, you said ‘Belle, the naughty 3 legged juvenile’, is she missing a leg? (Sorry, just being nosey… Hope that’s ok?). Anyhow, now we are over the food & #2 pellet (ha hah!), just thought I’d add (as I mentioned above) Henry is super naughty – ‘my’ bed which is made from cane (I wanted it for 15 years before I got it about 2 years ago) is going to collapse on Henry as soon as he gets that last chunk out as he has been dining on it for the last 6 months. At one stage I put a board up to stop him getting into my room, but that only lasted a day cause I felt bad he was left out and the dogs and I were in bed. Short of packing my bed up and sleeping on a mattress on the floor, what do you do? The sad part – if my dogs chewed my bed, well, I don’t think I need to say more!!!! So I just wanted to confirm with you – no advice/suggestions from me! (Trust me – you don’t want it! Lol!). Andi (Henry’s (sucker) mum.).

Yeah of course that’s ok! She is indeed missing a leg, I adopted her at 6 months old 6 weeks after she had one of her front legs amputated. She was a healthy little baby at the pet shop until one day she just couldnt walk and her leg was bent at a funny angle, they x rayed it and there was nothing wrong, so they were going to put her down. I was a regular visitor at that particular pet shop and they let me meet her, I held her and gave her some treats and totally fell in love, so they said they would amputate and see if she had a happy enough quality of life to warrant her being around!
Sure enough, I took her home and she grew like a weed, and is now the happiest bounciest bunny
Haha sounds like Henry and my Barney would get along well, he chews my bed too!!! I put up some grids to stop them getting on the bed too, but Belle is so leggy that she could jump high enough to get over it and cuddle in bed with me, and Barney couldnt I felt sooo guilty I just had to give in!
I have no suggestions for you unfortunately, being in the exact same boat! I just do a sharp ‘NO!’ and push them away from whatever they are destroying
                x

Thought you might like to see a few snaps of them, here is Belle when I very first brought her home.

And this is Belle and my other fluffy rescue bun Barney together! He’s 8 months older than her, but she’s so much taller, and still stocking out!

How precious! Just beautiful! Both of them! Gee, I have to stop gushing……
Ok, we are both agreed we have ‘naughty/cheeky’ buns! ha ha ha!
I love that you took Bella home – I babysat a lorikeet (bird/parrot, sorry not sure where you are from? I’m from Australia) and he was disabled with twisted feet and couldn’t fly. He/she (I named him/her Fred) was fed the wrong food, had the wrong cage, etc., and you guessed it, he was never returned. I had him for 3 years before he (sadly) passed away. The joy he bought me, it showed in my devastation when he died.
Good on you Anna! Belle, your a lucky girl!

Sorry BBer’s – I hope I haven’t distracted anyone from helping Anna out with her forum/enquiry.

Aw thanks Aww, he sounds like a lovely bird! I’m from the UK so there aren’t really any interesting birds here, unless you’re counting the pidgeons on the tube of course She’s a lovely girl, very bouncy!! I have just realised, looking back on dates that I infact adopted her at 4 months old, because I had to wait a while to get her spayed! She looked so nervous when I took her to the vets, I had to reassure her that she’d have the same number of limbs when she came out! Haha
I bet your weather is nice in Australia right now! It’s so cold here

Poor Belle, she goes to the vet and comes out missing a limb – Henry, he went in and came out missing, well – you know! ha ha hah. Our poor babies. (Yer right – spoilt! Eating our beds….).
The weather here at the moment is bordering on warm/hot and summer just became official today, so hotter days to come! A winter Christmas with snow is something we only see on tv shows here. (Envious!). (Actually no – Jealous!). lol…..

Haha I do! Barney was VERY unamused when he left the vets missing his Ahh that sounds nice, though I do like the cold! It’s my first year of driving in winter this year, so the snow and black ice is a bit of a scary prospect for me!x

Hey Anna – sorry that you didn’t get any suggestions as how to help with Belle’s #2 pellets (ha ha…), but I enjoyed getting to know more about Barney and Belle and I hope to see you on other forums. All the best driving in the snow and ice (very scary), so take care! Give Belle (& Barney) lots of cuddles and kisses from me and Henry.

Belle is such a pretty little 3 legged devil! I know what you mean, bonded pairs can be more trouble than not bonded… Emilee is a really good house bunny but she’s been picking up some bad habits from Nugget, like chewing/digging at the carpet. She also leaves her pellets around the litterbox, but it’s usually because she’s too lazy to jump into the box and will sit outside while eating the hay. I think you just have to retrain Belle, maybe put some new boxes in the areas she usually likes to leave her presents =P

Haha isn’t she just, makes it harder to tell her off! Hahaa, those boxes will be … all over the floor then Nahh she’s not that bad … though I did just come into my room and find her chewing my shoes for work at the hospital.
WHAT HAPPENED TO MY INNOCENT ANGELS :p

They are both so cute! My only suggestion is to retrain them BOTH like they aren’t litter trained. I think sometimes they check to see if they can get away with stuff they know is wrong.
Reading about you and Andi’s bed problems made me very happy I have a iron bed frame. Regardless, Ziggy was banned from the bedroom because of some potty issues. But he keeps trying to get back in to get the Budgies’ seeds. Or maybe he just likes to tease them. Who knows.
And don’t mention “snow”!! Consider yourselves both lucky! I don’t think even the UK has anything on Canada when it comes to it. haha! I enjoy it now, but after Christmas it really has no purpose.

Yeah, I might have to give that a go! Yeah but in Canada you actually have provisions for snow … here EVERYTHING grinds to a halt at 1 inch of snow, literally! Our cars arent equipped to drive in it either, I need some of those snow chain things!

Both you and rayray – enjoy your white Christmas! I’ll be soaking in the pool, lol!
(& rayray – will you be taking the dog sled to work?). Sorry Anna, just a joke cause of where rayray lives, she’ll get it…..
Henry enjoyed his kisses from Belle, but wasn’t so keen on the ones from Barney! (chuckle). I took Barney’s so they didn’t go to waste!
(Watch out Barney, Henry may be after your girl????).
