does your bunny know what your saying?

I believe my bunny is so happy because i give him my full attention when im home. I’ve taught him so many words i know he understands. Heres some of them:  HI BABY,,,,WERE.D BUDDY GO,,,,GOOD BOY,,,IM GONNA GET YOU,,,,I SEE YOU,,,STOP,,,NO,,, theres more, and he responds to these. Since he knows…Im gonna get you….he can understand NO GET BUDDY. Sometimes if he hears a noise outside,he gets really scared,then i say…ITS OK, NO GET BUDDY… And he lays back down. I didnt realize bunnies can learn so many words. I use these words everyday,and hes got them down, i never say it just to say it. Words go with actions and he learns so quickly. I think if you want a very happy and responsive bunny…give them your full attention when they come to you looking for it. Its hard when im watching a movie,or on the internet, but i will drop everything when he hops up to me. I am single and have my own apparyment,so it makes it easy to give him all my attention,and i think its really made my rabbit very happy,and doesnt just lay around.

Please tell me how your rabbit responds to more attention.

Well, I could say anything I want to Leopold. He will never understand since he can’t hear me. I have tried hand signals, but he hasn’t really caught on to anything except when I wave my finger at him when he’s naughty. Or perhaps he just knows he’s being naughty and sees me coming toward him so he takes off. LOL

Wooly knows his name, “bed time”, “who wants a naner” (although I am crinkling the bag), “no”, and “ow”. I do tell him he’s a good boy when he does what I want him to do. Other than that, he either doesn’t care enough to listen or simply doesn’t understand.

I do play games like saying “I’m gonna getcha” and pinching his little bottom. Hehe! I do it to Leopold too. They will casually scamper away and then return for more attention. I play with both of them by offering them a toy and letting them toss it. I guess that means it’s me doing the fetching. They also like their Teach N Treat and they know EXACTLY what I’m doing when I’m setting it up. They get super excited and race to where I normally put it down on the floor.

My bunnies know “food” “ya want some veggies?” “No” “silly bunny” “I’m gunna getcha!” and “come here” as well as their names.
What is really funny, is when I am chopping veggies, the sound of the chopping makes my guinea pigs squeak, and my bunnies run out when they hear the sound of the piggies… One time all the pigs were at the vet for a wellness check, and I chopped veg then, and the bunnies were completly lost…

i think we’ve all had plenty of experience teaching the word “no”. lol! So far Ziggy only understands “in” to go in his cage, “numnums” for treats and his name. But he doesn’t come when I call him, he just reacts to the tone I’m using. Stops when he’s being bad or binkies when I baby talk to him. lol!

I think like most pets, they respond more based on the tone of your voice than anything but my bunny definitely knows a few actual words. She understands “dinner” and “treat” without any problems and she knows what “no” means even though she never listens to me when I say it. Ironically, she only responds to the phrase “stop it” if I say it in Korean. My little bilingual bunny buttface… my parents find it highly amusing when I’m on skype and randomly start screaming in a foreign language but that’s really the only thing she will respond to!!!

My buns respond the carrots, treats, banana, pellets, veggies, I’m going to get you, No (but they don’t listen), off (to get of of furniture, sometimes listen), out (to make them leave rooms that they are not suppose to be in with varying success), who is a good bunny, and their individual names. We actually have to spell pellets or treats if we don’t want them riled up. Obviously very food driven.

My girl responds to hand signals (for targeting and periscoping on cue), but I don’t think a thing I say makes any difference. Except for the sound “ssssst, sssssst” (my poor imitation of a spray bottle). She responds to that pretty quickly.

My boy – he’s either super dopey or just downright ignorant! Na! Doesn’t react to a dam word I say. Why would he? He’s the boss, isn’t he???

Chester has always been good with hand signs, but until a couple of weeks ago I though he really didn’t care what I was saying. I had a friend over and was telling her that Chester loves the banana chips I got. He was sitting in his litter box, washing himself, and perked up and stared at me when I said banana! Then I (in the spirit of scientific curiosity, of course) said banana again and he ran towards me and begged for food! Now whenever I say “banana” Chester is next to me in 3 seconds flat Very handy!!

That’sso cool, i know my bunny understands alot of words,its just when he choses to respond i get excited. He does respond to the word SNAX and comes right to me… He knows….ITS OK. I say thay when he hears a noise that scares him, after he hears…its ok… He lays back down. I guess their really like cats, they respond when they want.

Gypsy knows her name, “Hey” which I always say if she’s thinking about being bad, carrot, and “Where’s the ball??”

I think he recognizes my tone of voice because I have the habit of talking to him in a over excited, shrieking, high-pitched baby voice.

He knows that “Bunny!” or “cutie pie!” or “Baby boy!” is followed by a cuddle session.

“Good boy!” Makes him freak out and chase my because he knows he gets a banana treat.

“Come here!” makes his ear perk up in curiosity. He knows it means either treat or face massage.

“No!” His eyes bulge out, the ears stand straight up and he looks terrified. But he looks so adorable when he’s scared I usually pet him after he stops doing the bad thing.
