        Updated pen pictures below

        ——————————————-

So here is Spot’s daytime pen for when he cannot be free roaming supervised. I just need to make a cardboard platform so he can step up to the 2nd level. I also need to zip tie the C&C house to make it a bit more secure. The floor is a heavy duty shower curtain, old sheet and then the top is a washable whelp/incontinence pad. The banister openings is protected by that plastic banister guards for kids.  The C&C grides are zip tied to the banister. It is low enough so I can step over it (he is not a jumper/climber) but I also have a “gate” in the middle that opens (just undo 2 clips) the grids by folding them back (to the entire width of the entrance). So far he seems to like it. What was dead space is now a fun place for Spot! I used 1 full box of C&C cubes to make this. It was the ones from Target with 2 different size grids so I used the small grids for the gate and the large ones for the house where he would not be tempted to try and stick his head through. Target had a box for $19.00.

Will that be convenient for you?

          Otherwise it looks good.

The large target grids aren’t safe. The holes are large enough for a bunny to get his/her head stuck in them.

If you have a hopper/climber you might need to go a grid or so higher but it looks like a nice bunny space.

He does not try to jump or climb anything. He also does not chew anything. I seriously think he is a senior as he is not super active.

It is convenient, I made a “gate” at the front and can pull the opening really wide (the entire width) or remove the entire left side (when looking at the pen) as it just detached at the gate and I can pick up the house and all in one piece and take it right out.

I did take that into consideration which is why I used them in spots where he shouldn’t be sticking his head through. The small grids I used on the gate as he would stick he head through there if he could. I have been looking for used cube systems to replace those pieces as I did not want to buy another box just for the small grids. I probably will end up doing that though as Target’s price was the cheapest I could find on the cube systems.

Anyone know how to do a free standing hay rack? I don’t have anything to hang on unless I continue the grids behind the box. He seems happy enough with the hay in the box as it is pretty large but I would rather he not be peeing on it.

So I added on to his condo area. I put all the big hole grids along the wall/ceiling and base of the second level where he would not be likely to try and stick his head through. I also have left over plastic from the banister guard so I may cover those grids with that if he seems to try and poke his nose through. I added the ceiling to the second level as he was making me nervous trying to peek over the second level wall. I also added the steps up with non slide surfaces. I extended the house area so he and my cat can fit up there since my cat keeps trying to take that space when the pen is open. Extending the pen also allowed me to put up a hay rack which I really like. I also added zip ties to the house to make it even more secure. I can still undo the gate and easily lift the entire left side house away if I need to take everything out. Thanks everyone for the comments! I love coming up the stairs and being eye level with him!

Great job! That looks like a pretty cool space, no wonder the cat is trying to claim it lol

I think you have done a great job! And what us best is that you used a space that previously had no purpose! Hats off! I am impressed!

I use a basket that is for hay for Soda.. I bought it on here and he really likes it.  I just put it right next to the litter box cuz it’s shaped as a trough.  He  likes to put his two front paws in it and eat.  hope that helps!

Oh, I may try that for his night cage as I am having trouble with a hay rack. Thanks sodapop!

Nice job on the cage! And I like the hay racks solution you came up with.
