Back story: I adopted this beautiful baby off of craigslist. Someone was giving her away due to “lack of time.” (Girl and I were the same age, both already owned a cat and a horse, except I’m in school full time…) I met her previous owner in a parking lot for the exchange. I got the bunny, cage, and a “bag of food.” (a bag of treats with flies which I promptly threw away. Her nails were grossly long, they have since been cut when I took her to the vet for a check up. She was scared after being in the car for 3 hours, so I let her do her thing for most of the day. Later in the day she let me pet her and flopped over in front of me! I was worried that was going to take days! Now she loves to come out and play, but hasn’t let me pick her up yet. I’m looking forward to many wonderful years with my bunny!

        1. Rabbit names: Gypsy
        2. Rabbit Age: 2 years
        3. How long has your bunny been with you? 1 week!
        4. Spayed/Neutered? No
        5. Rabbit Personality Traits (Calm, Diva, Naughty, Feisty, Sweet etc): She is so sweet and playful! She loves when I have company and constantly plays with the toys I got her. She bonks me for attention and then falls asleep while I pet her
        6. don’t know what breed she is, but they told me she was a dwarf (as the vet said, there is NOTHING dwarf about this rabbit hahaha)

        1. Are you new to rabbits or have you been a bunny slave for a long while now?: Gypsy is my first bunny!
        2. What made you choose to have a rabbit companion in your life? I’m in my final year in college and I’ve been aching for some bunny love for years. She will also (hopefully) get along with my needy cat when we get home and they will keep each other company.
        3. Anything else that you’d like to share: I also have a horse and a cat. I am an organic chemist in training.

              Welcome to BB!

Poor Gypsy, those nails look horrible. She’s so lucky you found her!

When are you planning to have her spayed? Since she’s already 2 years old, you will want to get that done soon. Their risk of reproductive cancer is over 85% by age 3-4.

AndHenry: Thank you!! She is a favorite at the vet

Darwin: Nova is so cute!! They do look alike. I was actually a veterinary assistant for 3 years, so I usually cut nails myself. But I took one look at those nails and said no way!

Hazel: I think it was meant to be! I was planning to get it done in January. Do you think that’s too late? I wanted to give her some time to settle in her new home first. I brought her to the vet on Monday (her first vet visit EVER) and she is still a little nervous/angry at me about it.
