I am new to being a rabbit owner and when my husband brought home 2 rabbits we didn’t know we had opposite sex bunnies. I know have a liter that is 6 weeks old. I lost one last night to pneumonia and giving preventative antibiotics to the rest of the liter. I’m needing to remove the mother from the liter but the only option I have is for her to go back to the male (that is not neutered). Can I put them back together so as to making sure all the rest of the babies get the care I need to give them? Any suggestions??

I would suggest against putting her back with him – because she can already get pregnant again.

Do not put them back together until both are altered otherwise you end up with another unexpected litter. I don’t see why you cannot put her in a separate enclosure until this happens…

It should be fine to have the babies without their mother if they are eating on their own.

Ditto what Baxter n Boo’s Mom and Sarita said. If you put them back together they will make more babies. They could also fight and hurt each other.

I’m sorry for your recent baby bunny loss. Are you planning on spaying/neutering your original two and re-homoing the babies?
