Hi, my rabbit Freckles has be really shedding over the past few days.  It has been getting everywhere and I can’t even pet him without fur flying everywhere! Since he is a indoor bunny, my mom is getting very annoyed that all of the fur since it is all over the couches and chairs. I have been brushing him everyday and have been trying to keep on top of all of the fur but I’m getting overwhelmed. Does anybody have any methods so to speak that will help me keep track of all of the fur? I would really like to know if there is anything that I can do to make the shedding any better.

        Thanks!!

Sounds like Freckles is going through a molt. Pluck the extra hair off him and brush him (as you have been doing) every day. Buy a lot of lint rollers, you can use them both on the furniture, and you can roll them down bunny’s back to get rid of extra hair. Rubber kitchen gloves are also useful in pulling loose fur off bunny.

There’s not too much you can do besides the extra brushing-it will end though, and it only happens twice a year. It’s amazing how much fur can come off them! Maybe offer to help your mom with vacuuming or sweeping so she isn’t too annoyed.

              Thank you for your advice,
I did vacuum yesterday but I’m going to have to vacuum again today because after I finished, Freckles decided to jump on the chair, making it all furry. . . again! But I will definitely try your advice, LongEaredLions! Thank you!

There’s not much to do beyond frequent brushing. Rabbits shed like crazy during a molt and it does tend to get everywhere. They also shed from their belly quite a bit, which is an area most people don’t brush (I know mine won’t let me brush their bellies) so they shed a lot when they sit on furniture or on your lap, even if you’ve brushed their backs out.
