I am terribly saddened to post this.  I didn’t think I would post something like this for a long long time. My sweet boy Freddy has passed to the rainbow bridge.  We had to put him down this morning because he was extremely lethargic and just was not going to make it.  The vet said it could have been anything.  Something was likely hidden and all the tests we had done showed nothing…. I am so sad…I think I was in denial that Freddy was so sick and that he may actually pass sooner than I hoped. I didn’t want to believe he was going to have such a short time with me.  He spent most of his life in a hoarding situation….He spent the last part of his life with me and with his buddy Marley.  They were happily bonded and Marley took great care of him.  I will miss my Freddy kisses and cuddles.  He was a very good rabbit. I am so worried about Marley now.  I do not know what to do.  Do I get him an new friend or do I just leave him be?  I know rabbits are very sensitive and I do not want him to be sad. I know it’s part of losing your brother to mourn but I really don’t want Marley to be too sad.  What am I supposed to do?

I am so confused as to how he so quickly degressed.  Freddy seemed fine last night and this morning he didn’t come up for breakfast…I won’t go into detail but I am just so upset….. I wish I knew what was wrong…. I didn’t want to do a necropsy because I didn’t want my boy poked and prodded…I want him to be at peace….Now he is…No more suffering….

        Binky Free my sweet boy….

Oh Amy, I’m so sorry. He was lucky to have had you and Marley even for a very short time.

I think for Marley just wait and see how he does. He may be fine – most of my rabbits who have lost mates have been perfectly okay.

I’m so sorry, Amy. (I know I’ve already commented on your Facebook but it can’t hurt commenting here either.)

                Binky Free, Handsome Freddy! <3

I’m sending so many healing vibes your way and Marleys way. Between you and Marley, I feel like Freddy probably spent the small amount of time he had with you both with more love in his life than he had ever had or imagined. I know it’s extremely hard and sad for you right now, especially knowing you had so little time with him, but remember that small amount of time was probably the world to him. You gave him everything he’d never had before in life and I know because of this he passed on as a happy, fulfilled bunny. Take pride and joy in that – you changed his life. And he has died a very loved bunny.

I will miss seeing his fluffy and adorable face on BB and Facebook.

Oh no… I’m so sorry Amy. Sometimes they just go quickly and there’s nothing that anyone can do. He had a bunny and human that loved him and couldn’t have asked for a better home.

Thank you everyone. This is tough. I have dealt with loses of pets in the past but this is just so different. Freddy was just a really special bunny and he only had a short time with me…A short time with happiness….It’s frustrating to think about and I know I shouldn’t think negatively but it is hard not to.. I know I will heal with time and Marley will too.

Thank you MD for the picture. It means soooo much to me! <3

I saw this on FB and was just shocked on how sudden… I am so, so sorry, hon. :o(

He was so incredibly lucky to have you and Marley in his life. Every experience up to that point does not matter, because in the end… he was a loved companion.

Regarding Marley, don’t feel like you have to rush anything. You need time to grieve. Marley needs time to come to terms with Freddy being gone. Comfort Marley and be his friend for now. See where that takes you. If and when the time comes, I have no doubt that you will find another special bunny for Marley.

I wanted to again offer my condolences on the loss of sweet little Freddy. You give him such a wonderful home and so much love while he was with you. Big hugs to you and Marley.

                            How is Marley doing?
