Hello all! I’m new to rabbits, having only begun my journey at the beginning of this year! My first bunny, Fiver (pictured in my avatar), died suddenly within the past month. I’m still pretty raw about it, but adopted a new little doe yesterday named Hazel. She’s about 2-3 months old, so just a wee baby. I’m fairly certain she’s a dwarf, but I’d happily be corrected if a more knowledgeable bunny owner knows better! She was very jittery at first (completely unlike Fiver), but has given me several happy shudders to seemingly indicate she’s coming around 🙂 She also does something I’ve never seen before, and will flop to her side suddenly, root around a bit, then lay there with her feet out. She seems quite content! As a quick aside, does she need to be a certain age before being spayed? Anyhow, don’t want to wear out my welcome so soon, so I’ll wrap this up. Happy to be here!

Big welcome to BB! Glad to have you on board!

I’m so sorry about the loss of your beautiful Fiver. I hope your new bunny brings you lots of joy and helps your heart heal.

Most vets will spay females around 5 months.

She looks like a dutch. They get larger than netherland dwarfs, but not really big.

She’s a beauty! And I agree with Eepster that she looks like a dutch. I have 2 adult dutch bucks – and I believe they only weigh around 4 lbs. It’s funny, they look larger than my aunt’s maltese dogs – but when I pick them up, the dogs are much heavier than my buns.

Hello Fiver’s Dad, welcome to Binky Bunny
I also have a Fiver, he is a torti mini rex and is about 6 years old. I am sorry to hear that your Fiver is at the Rainbow, but I bet he had a wonderful life with you.
Your new bunny is so cute. You realize though, that we will need more pictures of her….it’s kind of an unwritten rule.
Hope you enjoy it here. This was my first stop 7 years ago when my first bunny, Mimzy, came to live with me and be my boss. I currently have three in total. It’s an indispensable site when it comes to bunny advice and care. Plus we like a good gab too.
Welcome Hazel, you are a real cutie! <3
