She is 3 years old, will be turning 4 in May of 2014. I have heard after the age of 2 it is risky so i dont want to put her at any risk. Also are there any places in Canada that do spay/neuter for less? All of the ones i've heard of are U.S. based.

She’s not too old to be spayed at all! I don’t think they’re considered “old” or senior until 6+ years.

Definitely not too old… The big risk after 2 yrs old is they will develop uterine cancer if not spayed… I’d book her in soon if you can.

I've never heard that 'after 2 it's risky' -I know my vet doesn't think any age is risky-so long as they are healthy they are good to go the sooner the better-at her age the cancer risk is getting big
I've also never heard of a low cost rabbit spay/neuter unless done through a shelter…What part of Canada are you from? A lot of us are Canadian so may be able to recommend a vet for you,

Definitely not too old. Plenty of bunnies come into the shelter and get spayed at various ages – often their ages aren’t known at all, and the spays are successful.

I can’t help with the Canadian low-cost question, but I just want to reiterate that it’s riskier to NOT spay her. Do some research on what vets are available in your area. If you have transportation available, you may also want to consider vets that are a bit further out (up to 60-90 minutes away). Sometimes just by traveling a bit further, you can find a vet that does the procedure for half of what you’d pay in a larger city. It’s worth a drive IMO.

Bella is a rescue bunny and she wasn’t spayed until she was almost 3, and the vet said she did perfect in her surgery, and she recovered better than any bunny I have ever had spayed, licking my hands and eating right after we got home.
