I was listening to Maple sneezing earlier and now wonder if I should have her checked out. She’s always had little sneezing fits now and then. Her nose is always dry and there’s never been evidence of discharge on her paws.
She also snores regularly (its adorable). So I had figured both were due to her head structure and have let it be.

Depends. If it’s frequent (daily), I would probably mention it at her checkup next. If it’s every so often (once a week or so), I wouldn’t worry too much. Stickers will snuffle in the floor and breath in hay and sneeze, but it was WAY different than her URI sneezing – that was daily, multiple times a day with no reason at all. It also on bad days would leave her little nose a little red (you had to look close to see, but I am a freak about keeping an eye on them.. my vet didn’t even notice til he looked UP her nose). There wasn’t any discharge with her during her URI either though.

            Cool. Thanks Stickerbunny.
I’d say it’s every other week.

I don't know the answer or anything, I just wanted to say that the snoring thing sounds super cute!!

It might be that the sneezy every other week is due to something else. Like a bunny sniffing too hard into the ground, or doing too much hopping around (these things cause my bunny to sneeze extra).

              I hope it's nothing!

I’ve tried to record her snoring but never had much luck.
                It sounds like pigeons cooing.

Yes, I often put the sneezing down to normal things in the environment getting trapped in her nostrils more easily. I’d just hate to learn later it was due to infection and I hadn’t done something about it sooner.

My bunny will sneeze on occasion too. 9 times out of 10 it happens when she’s in her box eating hay so I don’t think much of it. Her nose is dry and it’s not a constant or continuous thing. Whenever it starts to get to the bottom of the bag of hay there’s always more of the little bits and dust so I assume it just gets up her nose.

I am going to say yes… In the rat community people panic if a rat sneezes once, but I’ve had rats who sneezed OFTEN throughout their lives where the vet couldn’t find anything wrong. I can’t imagine buns are nearly as sensitive (larger nostrils and not quite as low to the floor or as smelly) but an occasional sneeze? Well, who doesn’t sneeze sometimes?

My bunnies sneeze when I give them new hay. Not every time, but I’ve noticed it and it’s always in connection with sticking their noses in a fresh bunch of hay.

Much the same here, new hay = a few sneezes.
I think if they sneeze more than a few times then there is a problem.
I had a rabbit years ago who I think must have had snuffles that would sneeze 8 times or so in quick succession and then fall over

                          cosie used to snore!

in my case there was a clear difference between a uri and a sneeze. cosie had a uri and would sneeze out globs of snot (tmi?!) and had a wet irritated nose. callie sneezes randomly and i find it’s nothing to worry about. if you’re concerned though, better safe than sorry.

I would think that every other week is nothing to worry about. They do have their faces in hay most of the day after all. I’m thinking an infection would cause more sneezing than that.

Otto has always sneezed occasionally and never had any respiratory problems. Hannah has never sneezed that I have noticed. I do wonder if it’s down to the structure of their faces, since Otto has a smushed face and Hannah doesn’t.

I wouldn’t worry if there is no discharge or it doesn’t escalate.

I’m only manic about sneezing in mine because Mimzy has had so many infections. I think all three of mine have been exposed to EC and as such probably have pasturella as well.
Mimzy is actually allergic to some types of hay so I had to switch them out till I found one that doesn’t bother him. Currently Oxbow Meadow is all he eats. He still gets a bit of runny eye but it’s mostly his down one, that could be just because it’s pointed into the carpet all day.

She’s always been sneezy? Have you noticed any changes in her sneezing lately, like, the sneezes sounding louder/sneezing harder than before? (sometimes, in bunnies, they sound like they’re coming from deeper in the nose/lungs)

If so, it could be an infection just starting up… nipping it in the bud is a good idea before discharge develops. I’m sure the vet could do a culture if you wanted.

Well she’s been with me for approx 1 1/2 years and she’s has done this all along as far as I can recall. It’s just a series of short, rapid sneezes in a row.
This might happen a couple times that day and then nothing for a week or more.

Thanks for the input everyone. Ill keep it in mind to ask the vet. I think I may have mentioned it to their non-regular vet when i
had her and Potamus treated for pinworms. It was a while ago so I can’t remember very well.

                                    Thanks again. : )

I remember when I had dusty hay Muffin shoved his face in the hay rack, hopped back, turned around and sneezed! So cute, greedy creatures bunnies are.

I wouldn’t worry, everybody sneezes from time to time!

I think this might be something genetic as weird as that sounds. I’m not sure if this has any relevance whatsoever since it is about a person not a rabbit but my best friend is completely physically incapable of sneezing less than five times. If she sneezes once, you know she’s going to sneeze more all in a row. Once I counted 22 times! They’re just little sneezes compared to other people. Anyway, her Mum sneezes the same way and my BF just had a daughter, she’s just turned one and she always sneezes multiple times in a row. It seems like something that must have been passed down.

I just wonder if this is the same type of thing?
