Hey everyone! So I have a little bun bun and he is absolutely my world. I love him to death! But I am a little worried about my Anubis. Ive had him for about 3 months now. The first 2 months we were in an appartment by ourselves. But moving back to school the routine has majorly changed. He used to live in the living room where I spent all my time outside of work. Now in our new home he lives in my bedroom. We have 2 dogs and he is not comfortable with them. I try to spend as much time in my room as I can but aside from sleeping it usually is only 1-2 hours. He seems fine when we have play time and still runs around no problem. Im worried though because idk if he is actully lonely. he is not old enough to have another bunny yet but should I get one once he is old enough to have a friend? I want to spend more time with him but im an engineering student and usually have to be in a special lab for most hw. thus im not home. Could anyone please let me know what you think it would be greatly appriciated!!!!

Only get another bunny if you want one and can afford to take care of it. Don’t get one just because you think your little guy might want a friend. Bonding bunnies is a stressful process, it’s time consuming and some bunnies will never bond so it is possible you will end up with 2 single bunnies that have to be housed separately for the rest of their lives. I would just keep in mind that bunnies have a long life span and your years as a student are finite. This housing situation is temporary so think about what is best long term and what is realistic for you space and money wise.

What was your plan when you originally got him? It doesn’t seem like there’s a sudden change in circumstances.
Does he have free range of your bedroom? What’s his personality like (some buns are more aloof and some buns are very social)? For social buns, I think it’s neglectful to not get them a friend.

Some shelters will do the bonding process for you.

Personally I wouldn’t. Don’t feel guilty about leaving them during the working day! They mostly sleep in the day and are active in the mornings and evenings! If your struggling to put aside enough time for one bun then another is a bad idea as they will need grooming and two rabbits is twice as expensive as one! Plus they may never bond an you’ll have even more work on your hands!
It sounds like you care a lot about your bun and as long as you take the time to give him attention when you get home then he should be fine, plus he probably doesn’t know any different to how he lives now anyway

Bonding can be a very stressful and time consuming project. As a student, would you have the time to commit? And you also have to keep in mind, you may need to keep bunnies separated for several weeks or months. Do you have the space/money to care for a second bunny?

I’m sure your bunny is fine. Honestly, some days my buns only get 2 hours out-of-condo time as my two are unbonded.

Anubis is a cute name? Are you an ancient egypt fan like me?
