Well, it’s been 81 hrs since Jo-Jo’s spay surgery, 83 hrs since she ate anything on her own, and anout 51 hrs since the last poop. We’ve been forcing Critical Care every 4 hrs or so during the day along with pain meds, antibiotic, motility stimulant , simethicone & sub-q fluids. She doesn’t want to move at all… Looks weaker and sadder as the hours go by. If nothing is coming out, how long do you keep up the torture of force feeding? Don’t get me wrong – if it’s what we have to do to help her, I’d do it forever, but at what point can it be said it’s not working? For those of you who’ve been thru it, how long before results were seen? Poor baby…

I’m so sorry you’re going through this! I don’t have any experience with force feeding, but I’d suggest you just keep it up for now. Fake it till you make it. Has your Hubby’s colleague given you anymore input? Have you tried giving her baby food?

          Sending lots of healing vibes!

I’m so sorry this is happening, have you called the vet? Maybe they can give her an injectible painkiller or something to try and get her perked up?

Yeah… She has both an oral & injectable pain killer. Consulted 3 vets… Hubby palpated her tummy and it is REALLY full.
Might have to try an enema tomorrow.

Have you brought Jo-Jo to the vet? I would take her in to see what they say. It took Skipper a good couple of days to perk up after her spay. But I would definitely take her in because the vet may be able to get her to eat more and give you a bit more guidance concerning her condition.

I’m married to the vet. :-/
He has spoken to 3 colleagues who are rabbit specialists. I don’t want to stress her any more than need be. Re – read Dana Krempels article on Stasis and will just have patience and keep on doing everything we can to support her.

What little pieces of greens have you tried giving her? Maybe trying to chomp on something rougher is causing pain? Have you tried softer greens like dill? Have you ran it over her nose/mouth several times? She may try to bite it out of annoyance and eat a mouthful that way.
