Hi everyone, I have a boy bunny named Hatter. Today I noticed he wasn’t himself when I came Home from work, not the usual excited, adventurous bunny I know, then it came dinner time and he had no interest to eat. Now because of where I live, there’s no emergency bunny vet so I have to wait til morning. I notice he sometimes lays down on his side (like usual relaxation) is this a sign that he’s feeling ok, or trying to hide the pain? He’s been fairly lethargic all evening but still loves his cuddles from me – even fell asleep on my lap for the first time!

Hatter is my first rabbit, and this is the first time he’s ever been like this – he’s about 3 years old now. He grinded his teeth kind of like a cat purr while I was petting him. Any help would be much appreciated. I’ve tried feeding him tasty food but there’s no interest. I used syringe and gave him some water to try keep his fluids up until I know what’s going on at the Vet tomorrow.. I think it’s going to be a long night; it’s now past midnight.

A bun that isn’t eating or drinking needs to see a vet, you’re right.
Is he pooping? Could be Stasis.
Trying to encourage him to eat and drink is the right thing!
          ((Get well soon Hatter!))

Try some gentle tummy rubs too… They often kick things into gear and get the tummy functioning.

I heard him drinking late last night and now (6.30am) he just chewed a bit of grass, and he happily took a bit of fresh parsley but still not as much as he should.
I think it may be statis too since he isn’t pooping regular and they are smaller than usual… Another 2 hours until I can call a nearby Vet. Thanks guys. Will keep you updated.

Hi everyone, just an update. Hatter is having an overnight stay at the Vet, there is a blockage of some sort which they will xray tomorrow. They were massaging his tummy and found a certain spot which was uncomfortable for bunny.
Hatters temperature was below. Meant to be 40 was only 37. So the vet said he is sick. So if they can remove it without surgery we will do that, but also said there may be chance of surgery if it’s too large. Also mentioned that he may not make it because of the pain. So I just hope he’s strong enough. He’s only young so I hope he pulls through no matter what. On a good note, he seems happy, just not when they touch that spot. So it’s another long night to wait.

Hiya everybody! Just letting you know, all the good vibes sent to Hatter paid off. He’s back to normal now.
The vet just gave him some medication to clear his tummy and it worked. I just have to keep a very close eye on what he chews. The vet believes it would of been a mixture of items which Hatter ate such as cardboard and tarp (had the tarp under his hutch to make for easy cleaning) just not digesting properly so it was a build up of things that just weren’t mean to be there. So he’s now cardboard and tarp free. With a high fibre diet – just improved his hay levels and ensure he drinks water. Since the vet said it may happen again within the next few days, to just give him a tummy massage.
It’s now Sunday night and he’s been back to his crazy lovely self since I got him back Saturday morning. I’m also getting more cuddles so we’re all a happy family once again  I’ll be on the look out for some safe toys for my little boy now.. If you have any suggestions, let me know! He’s a bit of a chewer and adventurous bunny.

Thanks again for all the support and vibes. Anyway, nice to meet you all!
