Hey guys we had our male rabbit neutered earlier today. He is on some pain medication and will not eat or drink. We picked him up around 4 I haven’t seem him ingest anything. He is in his cage with a blanket over it. I also put a warm blanket with a water water bottle under it to provide heat for him but he doesn’t want to lay on it. He’s cuddled in a corner on his litter box (it has a metal grate on it so he doesn’t touch the litter) he has a water bottle and a bowl with water and a bowl with food and unlimited hay but he just won’t budge. He will not allow me to handle him either. What should I do? He randomly hops around his cage and he also rushes at me if I try to feed him. He’s tried nipping me too. I don’t know what else to do!

Being a bit grumpy and disinterested in food the first day is not unusual especially if it has only been a few hours… Make sure he has everything nearby and leave him in peace to settle down and get comfortable…. Make sure his litter tray is fresh so you can see when he starts to poop.

It’s normal for them to not eat the first day, and to be a bit grumpy.

              How is he doing today?

He is doing better I gave him his pain medication and he has to have been eating. There are a few scattered poos on the floor and on his bed and most of them in the litter box. He’s been mostly eating hay and hasn’t really wanted any pellets but he’s letting me pet him now!
