My newest bun is the first time I had a bun since a baby. My last bunnies I litter trained at an older age (even though one seemd to not get it at all or just didn’t care). This guy is now neutered, which helped a lot, but he still poos outside of the box. He urinates in it for the most part but still does numbertwo outside of it. I have a big box for him since he’s a Flemish, and keep his hay in the box, and I put his poo pellets in the box. Do you guys have any suggestons on helping him realize he can poo in the box?

He’s so good about peeing in the box he was hopping around my bed like he needed to go and I pulled out his extra litter box for outside the cage and he automatically hopped to it and peed in it. But it still frustrates me when I walk out of my room and come back in and their are pellets everywhere. I want him to become a free range rabbit when an adult because of his big size.

Just checking I’ve got this right – are you saying that he always pees in the box but won’t leave droppings in the box at all, or are you saying he mostly leaves his droppings in the box and a few are outside of it?
If it’s the first option then I’m not sure, I’ve never heard of that! If its the latter, then just a few droppings outside the letterbox is very normal and he’s unlikely to ever get them all in 100% of the time.
When was he neutered? If it was in the last month then his hormones might still be a bit wacky and that will effect his litter ox habits.

I have read that sometimes they poop to mark their territory as well. It was suggested that I do not go into my bunnies pen, so they feel they don’t have to mark it as much. It worked perfectly for one, 70% success with the other, and my third still poops everywhere- even though they only pee in their litter box. Worth trying? Good luck!

My bun does pretty much that same thing, it’s sooooo frustrating

He mostly pees in the litter box. He’ll poo in there too, but doesn’t all the time. Seems to be slowing down though and he is less and less pooing outside the box. He seems t mostly do it when I’m not in the room too for some reason.
