I have an opinion question! I like to leave my radio on quietly when I have to leave Biddy for more than an hour or two at a time, but I’m not sure if its for my comfort or for hers. Do rabbits care at all if there’s background noise? Does anyone else do anything like this for their bun?

I think rabbits generally like quiet. Mine don’t seem to mind the tv or radio when they’re hopping around in the main house but I don’t leave anything on for them. Sometimes I leave stuff on for the dogs when there’s something distressing going on outside (like fireworks).

There is a rabbit rescue near me that leaves those calming yoga music CDs on for the bunnies. I don’t know if the bunnies give a darn, but I have heard of people who do it

I’m a musician and I don’t think my buns care at all. Advanced on one instrument and beginner/horrible on the other; no difference to the buns.

I don’t, but that’s more because of the way I am… when I’m really concentrating on something or sleeping/resting, I need total silence. Since I don’t know what the bunnies would prefer, I err on the side of caution since they’re not able to turn it off themselves.

(Plus our monthly electric bill is high enough… I try to minimize things running when we’re not home.)

I’m the same way as Beka – I don’t because it’s not what I prefer. I like quiet.

I don’t think leaving some background noise on would really bother them if they were used to it but I also don’t really think it is necessary. Bunnies are designed to sleep while everybody else is going about their business so I’m sure they have their own way of tuning it out but personally I don’t leave any music on for my bunny. There is more than enough noise from the street below to keep her busy…

I had thought the same thing for my bunny and did it once when I first got him for the music to “keep him company”. But when I came home, he looked more distressed than relaxed (music might have been a lil on the louder side too…) -so I take it he likes quiet during his alone time and haven’t left any music on for him.
