        Hi Guys!

I’ve had my lovely house buns, Mr Bunnington, for almost a year. He’s a beautiful otter mini lop, with a crazy little grey hair-do (I’ll try and get some pictures up soon!)

He is free-roaming, and (after much training) very well behaved! We live in a split level apartment in the City, with our living room being on the upper floor. Unfortunately, he’s too scared of the half set of stairs to venture down to the lower level, so the living room is his stomping ground! It’s completely bunny-proofed, and he’s used to running around on his own (during the day, and at night whilst we’re sleeping).

Usually, if we go away we bring him with us, or have a friend house/buns sit. Unfortuantely, we have to go away for 2 nights in a few weeks and I’m thinking of leaving him home. We have taken him in the car, but with traffic sometimes the journey takes about 5 hours- the first couple of times we did it he was fine and had the run of my partners parent’s house when we arrived, but the last time we went he sulked the whole time we were there (about 5 days) and had no interest in leaving his indoor cage!

I know he’ll be fine for a couple of nights on his own, and I trust that he won’t destroy our living room! He’s good with his food and doesn’t eat it all at once, so I know he’ll be in good hands in his own company!

So…I wondered if anyone could provide any ideas of good toys that their bunnies enjoy? I’ve bought him quite a few things in the past, but the only things he really likes are his big cardboard castle which he spends time in, and his favourite toys are a plush ball that he rolls around with his nose and chases, and a rope that he throws about! I wanted to get him a few nice toys to enjoy whilst we are away and he is alone. Does anyone have any suggestions?

(Apologies for the long rambly post!)

Any advice would be most appreciated!

        Thanks xx

If he’s anything like MY bun, just put a box full of shredded paper – hiding a few treats in there for him to dig & find – and be sure to put the box in a spot he’s not usually allowed, as this seems to be the only place my bun plays with ANYTHING – where she’s not supposed to go ! I have put a wicker basket full of fabric scraps and a crinkly bag in a closet that she sneaks into and she thinks she’s getting away with something!

For two of three, anything wicker. It’s made me question my sanity since it not only gets destroyed, but they leave absolutely no signs of it.

Also, something to jump on and peer around. Something to hide under – I have these shallow boxes (ramen boxes) with cutouts on each side; they not only try to hide, but try to lift or scoot it around.

I got my bun a cat tunnel from a two dollar store the other day and I think it was the best day of his life! It’s about three metres long, has two holes that he can pop his head out of and has little pom poms that hang from the roof. He’s spent hours running through it, jumping over it and crawling under it. Can’t recommend it highly enough!

I’m going to have to get one of those cat tunnels!
I just made a 2 level dig box. I just tied 2 boxes together. On the bottom box I put a doorway in the middle to split it and stuffed 1 side full of shredded paper. Then cut a hole connecting the top & bottom boxes. Ziggy absolutely LOVES it, even got a couple binkies after. I also sprinkled treats & toys in the paper for him to find. He digs his way through the paper up to the top box and gets a nice high view of the his domain. lol!

My buns have one of those cat tunnels too which they love, a big hayball, some random jingly toys for baby Belle and a cat tree with levels and a hidey house under it x
