I’m still crying a lot as I write this so please forgive any mistakes.

Moonie, my precious baby of only a year old, passed last night from what I can only assume to be a severe bout of sudden GI stasis..

He was fine yesterday morning when I fed him his pellets, and by night he was a total mess, only to pass away in my roommate’s arms 3 hours later. I couldn’t even look.. after he passed away i sat there and held onto him for about half an hour.

He’s now buried on my grandmother’s property and I plan to go visit him there as often as possible.

It just seems so unfair that he could only live such a short life. He was really happy, though, for that time, and I”m really going to miss how he ran to his perch to greet me every morning and when I came home from work; How he would lick me all over my face when we laid together on the floor. He really liked it when I stroked his cheeks and would always “purr” when I did it. He was my very first rabbit, and honestly at this point I can’t say if I will ever have the heart to get another.. but maybe. I don’t know if I will be so lucky in getting such a friendly, loving rabbit ever again.

I consider myself so incredibly lucky to have had such a close friend, even if only for a short time.

please be safe going over the bridge, moonie.. one day i’m sure i’ll see you again.

Once again, I’m so very sorry. Moonpie was very beautiful and obviously a very special bunny. Sometimes the smallest friends are the greatest friends. He may have had a short life but it was filled with love. If it means anything, I’m confident he will be with you again.

I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. Moonie was very fortunate to have been adopted and loved so much by his human parent.

So sorry to hear about your little moonpie bunny. It sounds like he had a wonderful life with you and he would have passed away knowing how much you loved him, and will have bounced over the rainbow bridge knowing that you were still holding him back here on earth x

Binky free Moonpie, take care going over the bridge, and don’t eat too many carrots over there, okay?

My deepest condolences yawnu! I had my old bun for 5 years, but it still felt too soon…and I, just like you, swore to never get another bunny again. It felt like the hole in my heart was there forever, like it couldn’t be filled. Less than a year later, and a move across to the other side of the world (not that I suggest that…at all!) and I felt myself falling in love with our long eared friends once more. And into my life bounced Apollo. Of course, I still miss Snowbell, with all my heart, I’d give anything to have her back, but Apollo is certainly also something very special!

Give it time, time is the best healer of them all. Don’t feel pressured to get another bun, but never rule the option out totally, for you never know what may happen in the future <3

Binky free Moonie, hugs to you Yawnu xx
