        Moonie has been acting a little odd all day…

        He’s acting lethargic, he’s been hanging out in his litter box almost the entire day, just laying there, back hunched.

        I tried to feed him some raisins (his favorite treat) and he seemed like he really wanted to eat them, but he just wasnt up to it. it took him a few minutes to chew and swallow.

        I picked him up and gently laid him on his back and gave him some belly rubbing, in case it might be a digestive issue. But looking in his litter box, his poop is still its usual size, so I’m not sure about that. But, on the other hand, half his pellets are still in the bowl when usually there’s nothing left. This morning when I fed him he seemed fine, though, he ran to his bowl and munched away frantically like he usually does, haha. He has plenty of hay at all times.

        Right now he’s just sitting in his open pen, head on the floor, his back arched up slightly and he’s occasiionally getting up to shift his position. He seems uncomfortable.

        I also felt his ears and they seemed a little cooler than usual.

        Is it just a case of gas, or might he really be sick? I’m going to schedule a vet appointment for tomorrow. I”m really worried. D;

        Moonie is no longer with us. I will miss him.. I just wish I knew what I did wrong.

          It does sound like his stomach is uncomfortable, it maybe his bladder. A vet appt is definitely a good idea.

          I would continue to try massage his belly but no need to put him on his back. It will just stress him. With gas, you’ll see they let you really massage the abdomen. Its a good clue that has is causing the discomfort. Try letting him stay on the floor or in your lap and rubbing down the sides and underneath.

          If you have an electric toothbrush or shaver handy, use it to bring vibrations to his abdomen. I’ve even found a short drive in the car has helped a rabbit with discomfort. If you have simethicone (for gas), it wouldnt hurt to give some.

          ETA: past threads Indicate Moonies has malocclusion teeth. Have you ever been given pain meds for past treatment? If you have some, get Moonie nice and warm then give a dose.

            I dont have any kind of medicatiions handy for him, unfortunately. :c The last time this happened to him, was when he ate almost an entire newspaper (yikes). he was lethargic like this then, too, and I just made sure to give him tummy rubs, lots of water and hay and eventually he got better.

            It seems a little worse this time though, and this time I have no idea what he may have eaten because like I said, his poop looks normal..

            we’re going to try waht you suggested and take him for a drive, (we dont have anything else we can use for vibrations, and he doesnt mind cars at all) and i’m going to make sure to keep him warm as well.

                  I’m so very, very sorry for the loss of your bunny, Yawnu. It’s nothing you did wrong, sometimes even the most well cared for bunnies pass quickly. (((Hugs))))

                  Feel free to post a tribute in the Rainbow Bridge section. I’m sure others would like to offer their condolences.

                  ((((Binky Free Moonie))))) You will be a beautiful angel
