Curious also – it’s hard to be able to add ideas and thoughts if we’re not sure what the situation is exactly.

My son is allergic to the bunny and I won’t
Have an extra room for him anymore. We are all heartbroken over this and my dog will be too. They are best friends.

It’s been found on some occasions that the culprit is actually the hay… Is it worth trying some different hays ? Just throwing some ideas out… Also what area are you in… We may be able to suggest some rescues or shelters that can assist with rehoming.

I am assuming you are moving in with your son…? Is there possibly an indoor/outdoor area you could fortify ?

                  Thank you Roberta
                  I am in sarasota Florida
I’ve called my vet and pet stores and no one is able to direct me. I had a few people show some interest but so afraid to just give him to a stranger. Being that he is a house bunny and he is used to being let out of his cage to play with my dog I’m afraid someone will leave him in a cage all day and night and or put him outside.

Another voice of it might be the hay and not the bunny. My husband is allergic to timothy hay. If we don’t stick to other varieties my husband is miserable. So switch hay and clean up throughly before doing anything drastic.

Have to agree – we thought it was the bunnies at first and then realized it was the hay that was causing the allergic reactions. Once we switched from Timothy to Oat Hay or Orchard Grass he has been fine since! If you really do love him – I would suggest seeing if this is the case. We had to spent a few days hardcore cleaning the area the bunny had been to ensure ALL the timothy hay was gone and the little dust particles… but after we removed the Timothy his allergies decreased drastically. And now he has really no problem unless he’s really digs into the hay bin. Then he sometimes gets a little stuffed up but it goes away as soon as he puts the hay away.
